Britain's Ramla Ali lost to Yamileth Mercado on a unanimous points decision as the Mexican retained her WBC world super-bantamweight title in Arizona.

Ali, 34, was aiming for a maiden world title in Phoenix, but Mercado defended her title for a seventh time with the judges scoring 98-92, 98-93, 97-93 in the 26-year-old's favour.

Mercado, who has owned the belt since 2019, started the brighter and stifled Ali's counter-punching in the later rounds to take the victory.

"Didn't get the result tonight but still got the love," Ali wrote on Instagram.

"I wish Yamileth all the best and her judges."

England will be without six players for Monday's Euro 2024 warm-up game against Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kieran Trippier will captain the team.

Manchester United's Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are nursing injuries and manager Gareth Southgate said it is "unlikely" the defensive pair will be fit in time for Friday's friendly against Iceland.

John Stones is unavailable for the Bosnia game having joined up with the squad late, while Anthony Gordon is recovering from an injury and Bukayo Saka is being rested.

"I felt that feeling last time," Chorley’s Jack Catterall said after his much-hyped rematch with Josh Taylor in Leeds on Saturday went the distance.

The light-welterweight outboxed and dropped Scotland's Taylor in February 2022.

A prolonged wait for the judges’ scorecards to be read out ended in heartbreak as Catterall controversially lost on a split decision.

Martin Freeman is back on the beat as a burned-out police officer in BBC drama The Responder, and the actor clearly relishes the chance to return to such a gritty role.

"From a purely selfish point of view, I like playing people who are up against it," he tells the BBC.

In series one of the Bafta-nominated 2022 show, Freeman's character, PC Chris Carson, was demoted to doing endless gruelling night shifts.

He found himself dealing with the the sharp end of Liverpool's underworld, including its brutal drug gangs.

Lurching from crisis to crisis, he tries to uphold the law, while his personal life and mental health unravel.

"I like the fact he has to go through a lot of stuff," says Freeman. "It's interesting - it brings him into conflict with himself and other people.

"And I love that - it's what makes you want to be an actor."

Hollywood star Kirsten Dunst has said she grew up at a time when there was "major pay disparity" between herself and her male co-stars.

She said she was paid less than male co-stars, even though she had more box office success, with films such as Jumanji (1995) and Bring It On (2000).

"I was very young and it just felt like at the time, what do you do?" she said.

"I was 17, I was still learning my taste in film. I didn't even think to ask," she added.

Dunst has previously referred to the pay gap between her and actor Tobey Maguire, who she starred alongside in Spider-Man in 2002, as "very extreme".

Alex Garland, who directs Dunst in his latest film, Civil War, agreed it had been a major issue but "nobody questioned it, male executives didn't question it, these were all inherited opinions. They weren't thought about."

Sir Lenny Henry says preparing to present his final Comic Relief is "very emotional", and he's "incredibly proud" of what its fundraising has achieved.

The comedian co-founded the charity 39 years ago, and Friday's Red Nose Day broadcast will be his last as host.

"I think it needs new blood, and I'm definitely old blood. So it's time for change," Sir Lenny, 65, told BBC News.

His co-hosts on this year's show, on BBC One from 19:00 GMT, include Maya Jama, David Tennant and Davina McCall.

They will be joined by Romesh Ranganathan, Joel Dommett, Rosie Ramsey and Paddy McGuinness.

"This is a good time to part ways and to allow a new generation to take the baton and move the whole thing on a bit," Sir Lenny explained.

Friday's highlights will include a spoof movie adaptation of The Traitors, in which Vigil and Gentleman Jack star Suranne Jones will play host Claudia Winkleman.

Actress and director Amy Schumer has revealed she has Cushing's Syndrome, caused by an over-abundance of the hormone cortisol in her body.

She revealed the condition after being swarmed by comments about her face, with fans saying it looked "puffier" during recent TV interviews.

In her initial response, Schumer attributed the change in her appearance to endometriosis.

The subsequent Cushing's diagnosis left her feeling "reborn", she said.

"There are a few types of Cushing. Some that can be fatal, require brain surgery or removal of adrenal glands," the actress told the News Not Noise newsletter.

"I have the kind of Cushing that will just work itself out and I'm healthy [which] was the greatest news imaginable," she added.

Cushing's syndrome occurs when a person has elevated levels of cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone, inside the body for a long time. It mostly affects people on steroids

Robbie Williams burst onto the music scene with Take That in the 1990s and has since gone on to become a global superstar, selling more than 75 million records.

He is among the best-selling music artists ever and, as the singer turns 50, BBC Radio Stoke has put together a special programme to mark the occasion.

“He never liked birthday parties.”

"I’d say 'are we going to have a party this year?' And he'd say 'no mum'," said the singer's mother, Jan Williams.

As a boy, when asked if he was going to have friends around to celebrate, he would say "as long as there’s no singing", she added.

But if his "lovely" grandma was coming and it was just his immediate family there "then he’d do funny things to entertain you".
