About
Up Your Denim is a contemporary up-cycling brand, offering on-trend sustainable fashion and fashion accessories. Focusing on high quality finishes and with a keen eye for detail Champaneri reconstructs unwanted, second-hand and thrown-out denim, giving new life to old jeans, jackets, etc. Never underestimate the beauty to be found in unwanted denim. As Champaneri proves, in skilled hands the

history of a garment can inspire an entirely new story. UYD provides examples of just such stories, demonstrating how the past and present can be brought together to create something new and exciting. Key to UYD’s success is Champaneri’s ability to utilize both vintage and modern surface decoration techniques such as patchwork and appliqué. By combining these skills with elegant design and inventive cutting UYD boasts beautifully constructed eco-friendly style. History;
Growing up in Leicester surrounded by a large clothing and manufacturing industry Champaneri has always had a keen interest in fashion. Pursuing this interest she undertook formal training in London, finishing as a graduate from the Wimbledon School of Art with a degree in Historical Costume Interpretation. Since then Champaneri has worked as a freelance constructor, developing specialist techniques required for a broad range of projects including the construction of period garments and ice skating costumes. UYD is the accumulation of these skills and experiences and was inspired by a moment of frustration with an ever increasing amount of clothing waiting to be thrown away. More specifically a moment that involved 15 pairs of jeans sitting unused at the back of Champaneri’s wardrobe. Judging the denim fabric too valuable to bin, Champaneri began cutting and constructing them together to form new designs. Over the next few years Champaneri continued to work and re-work old denim, transforming the old and unwanted into the stylish and desirable. A refined process that now sits at the heart of Up Your Denim, Champaneri’s approach to up-cycling makes this a company to watch out for in the future.

Customer request. Well its a bit scary when you have to cut up an expensive tie and only get the one chance with minimal fabric. It worked out well in the end.
