Tottenham have identified Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as a major target before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

The 26-year-old is believed to be ready to take the next step and join a club playing in Europe to help boost his England chances.

Bournemouth are not welcoming any interest in Solanke, who they have under contract until 2027.

It is only the presence of a £65m release clause that could force them to sell the former Liverpool forward, who scored 21 goals in 42 games last season.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said last week that trying to sign a forward was a "focus".

Justin Rose came through qualifying for the Open Championship at Royal Troon but his ex-Ryder Cup team-mate Sergio Garcia fell short for the second successive year.

Rose, 43, tied for top spot at Burnham and Berrow in Somerset, playing 36 holes in eight under par to match fellow Englishman Dominic Clemons.

Less than a fortnight ago, Clemons was denied an Open place when he was beaten in the final of the Amateur Championship.

Rose, who finished fourth as an amateur on his 1998 debut and in a tie for second in 2018, has played in every Open since 2007 when fit.

And so to Wimbledon. The crowds gathered on Henman Hill - in the days when shouts of "come on, Tim!" still raised a chuckle on Centre Court - to watch the human take on the god.

It was Murray's first Wimbledon final, Federer's eighth. The newspapers declared Murray a hero, talking about his date with destiny. But as one paper asked on their front page: "Can he finish the job?"

John McEnroe, commentating on BBC TV, pointed out the quandary for the crowd. "I'm interested to see what will happen if and when, as we expect, the crowd gets behind Murray. He should be reminding them that I have no Wimbledon wins and Federer has six - but everyone loves Roger."

Before he was Sir Andrew Murray OBE, world number one, three-time Grand Slam champion, one of the nation's greatest-ever athletes... he was, to one woman at least, something altogether less celebratory.

In 2006, the football World Cup was taking place at the same time as Wimbledon. A 19-year-old Murray, himself once a promising youth footballer, joked in an interview that he would support "whoever England were playing against".

It went down like a lead balloon. He was abused in the comments of a blog he wrote on his website and even his wristbands, decorated with the Scottish saltire, attracted scrutiny.

Steve Cooper is now the leading contender to become Leicester's new manager.

The 44-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by Nottingham Forest in December but has held further talks with their East Midlands rivals.

Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter and West Brom boss Carlos Corberan have also been considered by the Foxes.

At the start of the week Potter appeared to be the frontrunner in a fluid situation, but Cooper is now seen as the prime candidate.

That is why this tournament carries an element of 'now or never' after the World Cup losses to Croatia in 2018 then France four years later, along with the great missed opportunity of losing to Italy on penalties at Wembley in the Euro 2020 final in what was pretty much a home tournament for England in all but name.

Both sides have a high-profile English player who has been at the heart of their run to the Champions League final.

Jude Bellingham comes up against Dortmund, the team he left last summer for the Bernabeu for an initial £88.5m, in the biggest game of an already impressive career.

Elvis bought Graceland Mansion in 1957 and lived there until he died two decades later.

In the early 1980s, the 14-acre compound was opened to the public as a music history theme park. Today it attracts roughly 600,000 visitors a year, according to the venue.

Elvis is buried there, as are his parents, daughter Lisa Marie, and her son Benjamin Keough.

Riley Keough, 34, is best known for starring in Amazon's Daisy Jones & the Six and has also appeared in Logan Lucky, Zola, and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio has unveiled the first car from its new lower-priced brand Onvo, in a direct challenge to Tesla's best-selling car.

With prices starting at 219,900 yuan ($30,465, £23,990), the L60 SUV is more than 10% cheaper than the world's most popular EV, Tesla's Model Y, which has a price tag of 249,900 yuan.

It comes in the same week that US President Joe Biden announced he would quadruple the import tax on electric cars from China.

Like other EV makers, Tesla has been struggling with falling sales in the face of intense competition from Chinese brands.

The vehicle was unveiled in Shanghai by Nio's chief executive, William Li, who said the company aimed to rival Tesla's Model Y and the Toyota RAV4.

"With technologies evolving and people’s understanding in smart EVs deepening, today it’s time for us to redefine the new standards for family cars," Mr Li said.

The company has started taking orders for the L60 and aims to begin deliveries by September.

Nio executives said they have plans to launch a new Onvo model a year as part of efforts to expand into the family car market.

The brand could also help Nio build up its presence outside its home country.

However, it faces 100% tariffs in the US and an ongoing anti-subsidy probe launched by the European Union into EV imports from China.

Electric car brands around the world are facing major challenges as they face slower sales and increased competition.

In April, Tesla started to lay off more than 10% of its global EV workforce.

Later that month, the company announced its profits for the first three months of the year had fallen by more than half compared to the same time last year.

Meanwhile, China's BYD said its profits had fallen as it was hit by weaker demand and a price war in the world's largest car market.

The widow of a sub-postmaster who took his own life had to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the Post Office in exchange for staggered compensation payments, an inquiry has heard.

The family of sub-postmaster Martin Griffiths also had to agree not to pursue legal action to try to clear his name and get more money.

The details emerged as part of a long-running inquiry into the prosecution of hundreds of sub-postmasters by the Post Office.

During a second day of questioning, former Post Office executive Angela van den Bogerd was shown emails where she and her colleagues discussed hiring a media lawyer after learning that Mr Griffiths was seriously ill in hospital.

It also emerged that the then chief executive, Paula Vennells, questioned whether Mr Griffiths had "previous mental health issues and potential family issues" to feed back to the board.

Between 1999 and 2015, the Post Office prosecuted hundreds of sub-postmasters for offences such as theft and false accounting on the strength of faulty Horizon accounting software.

Mr Griffiths had been pursued for a supposed shortfall amounting to £100,000 at his post office in Cheshire.

He had written to the Post Office that July about a £39,000 shortfall at his branch between February 2012 and May 2013.

He was also being held culpable for losses from an armed robbery at his branch in May of that year.

An email from campaigner Alan Bates to Post Office executives quoted Mr Griffiths' mother saying that "the Post Office had driven him to su***de".

The email was eventually forwarded to Ms van den Bogerd with a suggestion from the communications head Mark Davies to hire a specialist media lawyer.

Counsel for the inquiry Jason Beer KC asked Ms van den Bogerd: "The immediate reaction was not 'what can we, the Post Office, do to help this man's family', was it?"

She replied: "Not at this point."

Mr Beer asked if that was what it was like working in the Post Office at this time. "That the first thought was, we need a media lawyer?"

She replied: "In all my time with Post Office from very, very early on, I was very conscious that PR was very important."

Inflation has fallen to its lowest level in two-and-a-half years, driven largely by slowing food price rises.

Prices rose by 3.2% in the year to March, down from 3.4% the month before, according to official figures.

The cost of some items including meat, crumpets, chocolate biscuits, furniture and household items fell. However, petrol and diesel prices rose.

Lower inflation does not mean prices overall are coming down, they are just rising less quickly.

While the overall rate of inflation has dropped, goods in the shops are still much more expensive than they were two years ago.

Meat prices, driven by a drop in the cost of pork, fell by 0.5% between February and March, compared with a rise of 1.4% a year ago. It means the meat price rises slowed further to 3.1% in the year to March, the lowest rate since November 2021.

Prices for furniture and household goods like cleaning products also fell by 0.9% in the year to March.

Soaring food and energy bills have been the main causes behind the UK's high inflation in recent years.
