Four teams are preparing for the semi-finals of Euro 2024, with Spain set to face France on Tuesday while England take on the Netherlands the following day.

Spain are seeking to win the tournament for the fourth time, having most recently triumphed in 2012.

France last won it 24 years ago while the Dutch triumphed in 1988 - and England are of course hoping to end their wait for a first men's European Championship.

So who is looking in the best shape for their semi-final, and who could win it all?

Despite the risks, costs and environmental concerns of extreme tourism, people are still drawn to potentially dangerous trips – but why?

A year ago this week, the world focused its attention on the remote depths of the North Atlantic when the Titan sub, a cramped vessel operated by a video game controller, lost contact with its host ship on the sea's surface while descending to the Titanic wreckage. With just a 96-hour supply of oxygen, a frantic rescue mission unfolded.

One of the reasons I am so excited about for this tournament is I believe England have a great chance of winning it.

I know a lot of our players well from my time with the squad, especially some of the defenders - Kyle Walker and John Stones regularly played in front of me at international level - and I've known Kieran Trippier since we were teenagers at Manchester City.

The reason I wanted to get into punditry is to educate people who are interested in goalkeeping, and hopefully I can help people understand the position a bit better.

I'll be trying my best to do that by giving a goalkeeper's perspective, which can be very different to that of an outfield player. Sometimes when a goal goes in, the analysis you see on TV is about how the keeper should have done better, or has made a mistake.

Scotland must rediscover their "pride" at keeping shutouts, says defender Liam Cooper.

The Scots play Gibraltar in Portugal on Monday and host Finland on Friday before opening Euro 2024 against hosts Germany on 14 June. Steve Clarke's side also face Hungary and Switzerland in Group A.

With five defeats and two draws in their past seven fixtures, Scotland have not kept a clean sheet since their last win away to Cyprus in September.

Midfielder Erin Cuthbert said Chelsea "will be leaving nothing on the pitch" when they face Manchester United on the final day as they look to retain the Women's Super League title.

Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Tottenham put the Blues in the driving seat heading into Saturday, sitting top of the table above Manchester City on goal difference.

Emma Hayes' side play their season finale at Old Trafford, while City are also away at Aston Villa.

When asked if her Chelsea team-mates are up for the fight, Cuthbert said: "I'll make sure we do in the dressing room come Saturday.

"We will be leaving nothing on the pitch, we will be giving everything and no matter what the result is, at least we can look each other in the eye and say we gave everything."

One of many talking points to come from Real Madrid knocking Manchester City out of the Champions League quarter-final was Bernardo Silva's weak penalty in the shootout.

As usual with social media, there are theories circulating that Madrid's keeper Andriy Lunin might have been helped by his team-mate, the on-loan Chelsea stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga - with TV footage showing the two players deep in conversation, hands covering mouths, just before the spot-kicks.

Luka Modric took Madrid's first penalty and saw it saved by Brazilian Ederson, but the momentum swung back in Real's favour when City midfielder Silva lofted the ball tamely into Lunin's arms.

The Ukrainian keeper was a picture of calm as he planted his feet and easily collected Silva's shot.

Tottenham are in talks with "prospective investors" after reporting losses of £86.8m in their 2022-23 accounts, says chairman Daniel Levy.

Total revenue increased by 24% from 2022 to a record-high £549.6m, with matchday income reaching a record £117.6m.

But they reported a loss for the fourth successive year following the 2022 deficit of £50.1m.

Levy stressed the need to "capitalise on our long-term potential".

"To continue to invest in the teams and undertake future capital projects, the club requires a significant increase in its equity base," he said.

"The board and its advisors, Rothschild & Co, are in discussions with prospective investors. Any recommended investment proposal would require the support of the club's shareholders."

Under Premier League profit and sustainability (PSR) regulations, clubs can lose a maximum of £105m over a three-season period, or £35m per campaign, before facing sanctions.

Tottenham's losses over the last three years are beyond that threshold at £220.7m, but the annual depreciation charge of £72m, which refers to their stadium and other facilities, means they are not at risk of breaching PSR regulations.

Everton and Nottingham Forest have already been punished with points deductions this campaign for breaking PSR rules, while Championship side Leicester were charged last month by the Premier League for allegedly breaking spending rules during their last three seasons in the top flight.

"The club remains fully compliant with the rules and is supportive of the enhancement of PSR to ensure the Premier League remains competitive and sustainable," Levy said.

"We have operated on a financially sustainable basis and can now optimise the true value of key assets, the unrivalled facilities at our multi-use stadium and our training campus.

"We expect commercial revenues to rise from third-party events, although this will not compensate for the lack of European football this season."

After finishing fourth in 2021-22, Tottenham returned to the Champions League last season - reaching the last 16 - bringing in £56.2m in Uefa prize money, compared to £10.2m in the previous year's accounts when they suffered a group-stage exit from the Europa Conference League.

They finished eighth in the Premier League in 2022-23 and are not involved in European football this term.

Tottenham's accounts for 2022-23 showed operating expenses had risen by 21% from £403.4m to £487.9m, due to increased first-team costs and the hosting of multiple non-football events, such as NFL fixtures, boxing and music concerts.

A "significant and continued investment in the playing squad" saw the wage bill rise by 20% to £251m. Levy also had a pay increase from £3.2m to £3.5m, while taking home a £3m bonus.

In March, Tottenham announced season ticket prices would increase by 6% for the 2024-25 season, with the most affordable adult season ticket costing £856, up from £807 this season. They are also removing the concession for new senior season ticket holders - those aged 65 and above - from 2025-26.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust said the decision was "unacceptable" and "cannot be justified".

Tottenham said the increase in season ticket prices is because they have only raised prices once in the past five years - by 1.5% - and there had been a "significant increase in matchday costs".

The accounts do not mention how much it cost to dismiss manager Antonio Conte, who was relieved of his duties at the club in March 2023, with Ange Postecoglou appointed his permanent successor on 6 June after interim spells from Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason.

Spurs also saw talisman Harry Kane sold to Bayern Munich for 100m euros (£86.4m) in August, but that deal fell outside of the financial window and will be included in the 2023-24 accounts.

Likewise, the outlay for the new additions James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Dejan Kulusevski, Micky van de Ven and Brennan Johnson will feature in next year's accounts.

Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert said "it's hard not to dream a little bit" as Emma Hayes' side bid to win the Champions League for the first time.

The Blues face Ajax on Tuesday in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Last season's semi-finalists are aiming to win the European title for the first time in Hayes' final season with the club.

"Of course it would mean everything to get to the final and to go on and win it," said Cuthbert.

"But I've been at this club so long, it's all about a process. We're in the quarter-finals now and it's two ties that lie ahead, two tough games against a really tough team who have more than proved themselves at this level.

"We're under no illusions, it's going to be a tough game tomorrow, but of course it's hard not to dream a little bit.

"You are a football player, but at the same time I've been so well-drilled under Emma that it is very process-oriented."

Ajax have already made history by reaching the last eight for the last time, becoming only the second team from the Netherlands, after Saestum in 2006-07, to reach this stage.

"As a player, I certainly know that if I was in the competition for the first time, I'd be playing without fear," Cuthbert added.

"I think we need to be wary of that. They've got nothing to lose and we've got everything so we'll be giving it everything to try and bring a result back to Stamford Bridge that we're happy with."

Hayes' side head into the tie at Amsterdam's Johan Cruyff Arena full of confidence after a 3-1 Women's Super League win over Arsenal on Friday.

They lost to eventual winners Barcelona in last season's semi-final and there has been plenty of talk around Hayes winning the trophy that eludes her at Chelsea in her final season.

"Every game means a lot to me," she said. I really don't apportion any more emotional response to one competition over another. I would like to be part of a team that wins as much as possible.

"I'm just happy to be at this stage of the competition."

When you think of Benfica, you think of Eusebio.

The 'Black Panther' was one of the greatest footballers the world has seen and in the 1960s and 70s, Benfica supporters had the privilege of watching him score more goals than the number of games he played in for the Eagles.

The jewel in the crown of his career with Benfica was the European Cup winners' medal he won at the end of his first season there, scoring twice in their final victory over Real Madrid in Amsterdam.

Although he played in three more finals in the tournament, a second success eluded him - but his incredible haul of 473 goals in 440 appearances will surely never be beaten.

Legend has it that Eusebio had a soft spot for Rangers after meeting and going on to become firm friends with Ibrox legend Willie Henderson.

The pair met in 1964 as part of a 'Rest of the World' select for a friendly in Denmark and were close up until Eusebio's death just over a decade ago.

Pep Guardiola praised his Manchester City players as "supermen" as they kept up their chase for a fourth straight league title by beating Bournemouth.

Phil Foden's goal was enough for a narrow and nervy 1-0 Premier League win at Vitality Stadium, which moves City one point behind leaders Liverpool.

City manager Guardiola praised his team for finding a way to win having played in midweek against Brentford.

"I adore my players - they are supermen," Guardiola told Sky Sports.
