There's nothing like real vintage
Making something yourself is a fantastic feeling of achievement and something that can transport you back in time. Back to a time of make-do-and-mend, of iconic fashions and the tell-tale sounds of clicking needles and hard-working sewing machines. And it's something that has always been close to my heart, having learnt to knit and sew at a young age.
I've also been interested in clothes for many years and love to look back through the eras at the changing face of fashion. I'm particularly drawn to the classic 1950s skirts. So, when my nan bought me a reproduction circle skirt pattern, I created a white and red polka dot version and I was hooked! I loved recreating the styles, shapes and patterns from other eras. But this got me thinking; why use replicas or vintage-style when you can have the real thing? And so, The Vintage Craft Cave was born. I firmly believe that nothing beats the look and feel of real vintage, and so only supply genuine vintage materials, patterns and tools, allowing you to create truly authentic looks. I like to call this re-creating.
The "make-do-and-mend" attitude is also a key element to my ethics and so is deep at the heart of the business. By reusing and repurposing the old, I help to reduce waste whilst giving my customers an eco-friendly and affordable way to craft and make.
