As students we are given a theme, this year it was “D'URBANIA” - so our own representation of Durban - and we have to create six full looks/outfits. It’s up to the individuals to choose what and how to portray the theme through menswear, womenswear, kids clothing or a mix of all three.

I chose to do menswear to as a means to expand my portfolio - I enjoyed the challenge! My looks were inspired by the men of Durban. I believe that even though mens fashion has evolved it still isn’t given the same accreditation as women’s wear. In Durban men like to dress for comfort or climate, however their clothing choices aren’t always stylish or on trend. I designed my range to inspire the men of Durban, where they can still dote comfortable clothes as well as be stylish.

I challenged myself to ensure that my entire range would be interchangeable - providing a man with a wardrobe that could be worn to any occasion. I made my range personal by printing on a few of the items, using prints designed and hand crafted by me. I accessorized the ramp models looks with a sense of humour, showing people that life doesn't always have to be serious. Challenging the normality of what should be to what could be!
