The Symbol is common in both Jewish and Muslim communities.
In Jewish communities it is called the Hamsa Hand or the Hand of Miriam.

Lifestyle: a Riad is a traditional house in Morocco. It is characterized by having an inner courtyard or a garden as the central element of the building. As a matter of fact, the name comes from the Arab word ‘ryad’ – garden.

Based on the Islamic notion of privacy and inward reflection, rooms in a Riad will have windows facing the inner courtyard/garden which usually contains a fountain and olive or orange trees.
