Navigating the 6+million options MTO can be a daunting task; so we’ve taken inspiration from some of our favourites from the past and made them available to you.

Pictured above is the Hayes model in a unique Edwardian Grey patina. The Hayes is a beautifully proportional and elegant shoe. With its angular-Adelaide facing and toe medallion, it is apart from any of our other Oxford. As the details are inspected more closely, a diamond brogue pattern can be noticed, which harmonises perfectly with the diamond motifs within the toe medallion.

Our Leather Oak Bark Soles

We often talk about the beauty and ornamental nature of our shoes, but the end result can only be of the highest quality if the materials used are of an equally high standard.

J.&F.J. Baker is Britain’s only remaining traditional oak bark tannery. It has been run by the same family for 6 generations at its Devonshire location which has been a tannery since Roman times.

They have been providing the Oak Bark leather for our soles since the beginning. Generations of knowledge have perfected the process, resulting in our leather soles being hardwearing, durable but supple and flexible for the ideal level of comfort.

The Loafer Collection

The versatility of a loafer has become a daily discussion in the store. Is it too casual? Can I wear it with a suit? What about in the boardroom?

The loafer itself has historically been used for more casual pursuits. Having a shoe that can be slipped on or off with ease contrasts with the concept of making an effort to get dressed up and god-forbid actually needing to remember how to tie our laces!

But the loafer has firmly cemented its place in a formal wardrobe, more now than ever before. For us, it’s not the style of the shoe which determines its formality, but rather the combination of leather and toe shape which has a bigger impact on its aesthetic.

Our KN14 is a soft-square toe shape. It gives a loafer a more dressed up and formal aesthetic. We chose this toe shape for our main collection of RTW loafers to ensure clients have the option to looked dressed up no matter their outfit.

Choose this toe shape in a Black Calf or a Dark Brown Calf leather and the shoe becomes a sleek and elegantly formal shoe that works perfectly with all of your tailoring.

Choosing a suede option with this toe shape works great for a wardrobe which focuses on well tailored separates rather than business suiting.

The C39 round toe shape, featured in all of our Classic Collection (and available for all loafers in MTO) is a round toe shape which is synonymous with the casual loafers of the past.

But whilst the toe shape is synonymous with a typically causal loafer, choosing this in a nicely shined calf leather can add formality, and elevate it accordingly.

Re-Discover the Classic Collection.

The collection has evolved over the last couple of years into a selection of classic and understated English shoes, designed to offer maximum versatility for an everyday wardrobe.

Goodyear welted, and using traditional oak bark leather soles, the Classic Collection is offered with a slightly lower heel and the waist and soles are not as sculptured as our regular Ready to Wear or Made to Order collections.

They are understated, elegant and timeless English shoes, no contemporary twists, just classic quality.
