She has recently completed her Master Fashion Design & Technology, specialising in Menswear and Knitwear at London College of Fashion and has completed her Undergraduate studies from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, specialising in Womenswear and Knitwear Design, where Sumyu heavily explored her interest of creating exquisite and innovative knitwear. Passionate in Knitwear, Sumyu designs her

knits by hand on a domestic knitting machine and features finest hand-knitting techniques and high-quality hand-craftsmanship. She breaks the boundary of knitwear by combining British tailoring and handcrafted fiber and has developed both innovative machine-knit and hand-knitting techniques, creating extraordinary sculptural Mens knitwear with finest wool, angora and cashmere. During her study, Sumyu has interned at Alexander McQueen in London, worked with Sydney based Australian luxury hand-knit brand Danielle Chiel on knitwear collection and collaborated with international knitting manufacturers for trade shows in New York and Milan. Sumyu won the Knitwear Design Award organised by The Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters in London and she works on an artistic knitwear project collaborating with Zegna in Rome. SUMYU LI sweater features in 'The Face' - exclusive fashion film editorial to accompany FAULT magazine Issue 16's 'Decades'. Directed by Jacob John Harmer, Styled and Creative directed by Sophie Gaten and accompanying photo series by Louie Banks.

The films explore the uncertainty within our sense of self in our contemporary throw away society - the 'Faces' of the past in a reference to the 1960's, 70's and 80's and how fashion often refers back to decades gone by, as they represent stability and a strong identity, which appears ever lost in our rapidly evolving environment.

'The Face', the fashion film, was directed by Jacob Harmer and accompanies a corresponding fashion editorial shot by Louie Banks in FAULT Magazine Issue 16. ...
