What's your view on this?

It's a shame, I think, that influencers wield this kind of power and are being perceived as food critics when a clear 90% of them know sweet FA about the food they are eating, or about the hospitality industry.

More accurate, probably, to describe the influencers as advertising bots. They aren't more than that really.

I preferred it when food critics were few and far between and masters of their craft, and no-one else was drowning them out with white noise - but that's because I enjoyed them as a reader.

Do you agree with Gordon Ramsay ?

They are loved and loathed in almost equal measure by the restaurant industry, but the world’s most famous chef is unequivocal about his respect for influencers.

Mondays are what I laughingly call my 'day off' which, as any entrepreneur will be familiar with, is a day of frenetically counting up all the things I haven't done and am not prepared for, and then not dealing with any of them because I've just had an idea for yet another project.

I have got as far as checking my diary for the next few weeks, and we have lined up for your delectation:

- carvery lunch at The Worshipful Company of Butchers, probably involving some random add-ons, because when in London - why not?

- Cirque du Soleil at Royal Albert Hall.

- a couple of nights Visit Jersey at St Brelades Bay Hotel. I'm hoping we'll have run out of rain by then. I've never been to the island, so I'm looking forward to a good look round.

- Olivier Awards ceremony, which also involves some serious dress shopping & organising a haircut as I'm currently rocking the Rod Stewart look.

- Abba the Party - details unknown as yet, but it's my nieces hen-do so I'm along for the ride on this one.

- Lovely Husband is off to do the Crumball Rally, which means a few days of having the remote to myself. I hope they've still got some roads left after all the terrible flooding in Europe.

Watch this space for more Life Begins at 60 adventures, and keep your eyes peeled for our substack, launching soon.

Here at Hungry for Something HQ, as well as our pursuit of good food and interesting (sometimes weird) things to do, we do love things that are a little outside of mainstream.

I didn't know that Butchers had a Worshipful Company, but here they are! They hold carvery events throughout the year which are open to the general public, dates available through the link below.

We're really looking forward to this one on Wednesday, and will be reporting back to you in due course.
