31/12/2022
After 2 years of the Covid pandemic, like most people I started 2022 with high hopes and optimism. However, the challenges started with the loss of my second dad in the first week of January. The Russia war in Ukraine was a big shocker that followed and is devastating to hear of people being killed everyday. Losing the Queen was very sad and was like losing another close relative. Knowing that people are choosing to either heat or eat, due to the cost of living crisis is very heart-breaking. What an ‘Annus Horribilis’ quoting my beloved Queen!!!
So what have I learnt this year? Resilience, empathy, gratitude, kindness, relationship building and thankfulness. I learnt to look out for and appreciate the positives around me even more. My second Dad’s funeral gave me the opportunity to re-ignite old relationships with long lost family and friends. The war and geo-political issues helped me to put my personal challenges in perspective and to appreciate many things that I took for granted. I am very thankful for all the little and big family and work celebrations that I was privileged to have including a medical school graduation. I am particularly proud to work for HMRC and to be involved in the planning and delivery of the Cost of Living scheme that is helping people across our country.
Most importantly, I am even more grateful for all the people that were a part of my 2022 journey- my family, friends and colleagues who supported me through thick and thin.
How about you? What did 2022 teach you? Did it change you in anyway?
As the year ends, I would like to thank you, my friends and family on Facebook and Instagram for supporting me through the good and not-so good times of 2022. I look forward to 2023 with high optimism and hope to be there to support you through the good and perhaps not-so-good times that may evolve in 2023.
Wish you a Happy, Peaceful and Successful New Year🎉😊
