💕 Shanti's story is told here by Aimee Kelly, Newcastle born actor and star of Sket, Wolfblood and The Personal History of David Copperfield; among many more.

“Do not give up on your situation with hard work you can change your life and no challenge can ever stop you from growing and learning.” In her episode, Shanti talks about living in the rural area in the north west of India. Challenges like a lack of public transportation were always part of her life. With the support of her husband, she was able to learn sewing and finally joining the Saheli women centre. Shanti enjoys living between the dunes even if the centre is far away from her home. The distance is a real challenge for her, but also for many more women who live there. Shanti’s will on never giving up and always keep going is very empowering.
🌈 Saheli Women is a non-profit social enterprise, founded in 2015, with the aim of financially empowering the ladies of Bhikamkor village in rural Rajasthan; through creating ethical and sustainable fashion. Each episode features one of the Saheli Women telling the story of her life, as read by an actor, translated from Hindi to English by Madhu Vaishnav.
