How it started in Cannes: A glamorous group shot aboard the extraordinary Corinthian with fabulous friends, the red carpet at the Palais, and a screening of a fabulous French film.

How it ended: A glamorous dinner for 30 celebrating the brilliant (the food on board is truly next level), followed a midnight tour of this ship of dreams, where I ended up in black tie in the bathtub of the Agatha Christie Suite.

Thank you and the Hunt & Gather team for a perfect night.

All aboard the Orient Express, but instead of a train, make it a sailing yacht (the largest sailing yacht in the world, to be clear.)

I was lucky enough to spend the past few days in Cannes getting an early look at the new Corinthian, the brand’s extraordinary sailing yacht set to debut next month. If the train has long represented one of the world’s greatest travel experiences, this is its sea-bound counterpart: the largest sailing yacht of its kind, with three remarkable folding masts rising more than 100 meterd into the sky.

Designed by the brilliant architect Maxime d’Angeac (pictured with me, Slide 1), the interiors translate the romance of the original Orient Express into a distinctly contemporary language: deep woods, polished obsidian stone, gleaming chrome accents, hand carved sculptural bas-relief panels with deco motifs, and sumptuous soft furnishings, tailored detailing and rich colors throughout. Did I mention that some of the suites come with the largest marble bathrooms I've ever seen at sea, with soaking tubs and teak floors and alabaster mirrors? You might never leave your room.

What struck me most is the scale paired with intimacy. With just 54 suites, Corinthian feels more like a floating five-star hotel than a cruise ship. A unique architectural lap pool, fabulous Guerlain spa, five restaurants including one helmed by , fully stocked library, cinema, and hidden speakeasy only reinforce what is a truly unique voyage on the water.

As someone who has always loved the magic of the Orient Express train, seeing this next chapter come to life was genuinely special. If you’ve been dreaming of going on the the train, perhaps the answer now is to do both: One by land and one by sea.

Thank you to the inimitable and the team for such a spectacular preview—and for a perfect few days in Cannes with some of my favorite friends. xo Whitney

I just love the Decorative Fair so much. So many favorite pieces and so many favorite dealers including beloved Lillie Road anchors (a lucky human will have that Kentish cabinet).

Three years ago, I posted these photos after a perfect lunch at Casa Zoppi—housed in a palazzo filled with glass masterpieces and stories to match based on Alessandro Zoppi's more than half century of collecting .

This year, I was lucky enough to stay there with my dear Alessandra , but Venice felt different. That's because unforgettable Alessandro Zoppi, who passed away earlier this year. I dearly miss him.

Alessandro was pure eleganza—he somehow looked like a Venetian answer to Gianni Agnelli, always dressed to perfection, always with that impeccable ease that can’t be bought or taught. But what I’ll remember most was his warmth. Every single time I came to Venice, he and Ale welcomed me amd any friend I had with me with open arms, and a smile under the Tiepolo sky and a view to the Grand Canal.

The great joy is that the legacy continues. Som Ascanio is brilliantly carrying the torch at Zoppi Gallery, which remains an absolute must visit during the Biennale (or frankly any time you’re in Venice). Extraordinary glass, each with history, impeccable taste.

If you’re headed to Venice and want an introduction, just say the word.

Adding to the chorus of visitors who made the pilgrimage to Palazzo Pisani Moretta aka Fondazione Dries Van Noten this week.

Those who know me will not be remotely surprised about my love for Dries (Was so happy to bump into him and brilliant Patrick along the Strada Nova). I genuinely don’t think there’s been a men’s season since I was 18 when I didn’t buy something by Dries. Some people have season tickets; I apparently have Belgian designers.

The palazzo he and Patrick have brought back to life is, naturally, exquisite—rumored among Venetians to be one of the most beautiful and intact private palazzi in the city, all faded grandeur, Renaissance lighting, and the kind of rooms that make you immediately reassess your life choices (the way he designed the rope balustrades on the staircases is in itself a thing of beauty).

Inside, the inaugural exhibition, The Only True Protest Is Beauty are pieces by Christian Lacroix couture, Comme des Garçons, Steven Shearer, Misha Kahn, Ann Carrington, Kaori Kurihara—a decadent, gothic, often richly dark and layered Wunderkammer dropped onto the Grand Canal. A must for anyone headed to Venice this year.

Pro tip: the gift shop is fabulous. Gorgeous Dries hand soaps, artisan ceramics, books, objets, and glass abound.

"The lights are on at Cà 'Dario" my dear friend told me when I got to Venice (She snapped a picture of the house, which is directly in front of her Palazzo,
fittingly, under the full moon last week. Last slide.) What makes this special is that for more than 30 years the "cursed Palazzo" , built in 1472, has sat dark and empty owing to its reputation amongst Venetians about all the “unpleasant events” (ie su***de,
murder and general misfortune) that befall the owners who lived there, all of them dead after they bought the building. Nontheless the building is back on the market for €21 million and is staging an exhibtion of works entitled "Ghost Pavillion" (You're getting the theme, I hope) during the Biennale.
I've always been fascinated by the space and I must admit, you feel a deep energy in the house (at least, I did). Then again, as another visitor told me upstairs, overhearing my conversation with a friend: "All the Palazzos in Venice are haunted. That’s what happens when a city lives this long. The ghosts are part of the architecture." x Whitney

So proud of my dear friend, the wildly talented architect and designer Aline Asmar d’Amman , on a true triumph with the Orient Express Hotel Venezia .venezia , set within the storied Palazzo Donà Giovannelli. The hotel has been a labor of love years in the making—I’ve followed every step of the restoration and interior design, just as I’ve followed Aline’s brilliant hospitlsity projects, including Hôtel de Crillon Le Jules Verne retaurant in the Eiffel Tower (where we first met during my ELLE Decor days). The results are every but as magical as expected: gorgeous frescoes in the bedrooms, the most glamoruous spiral staircase, a fabulous bar and a future restaurant by Heinz Beck and one of the coolest gardens in the city, a haven off the Strada Nova and a perfect palette that only Aline could devise.

A masterclass in how to restore, not replicate. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

Almost two thousand years on—and still no better arrival anywhere in the world than when you make that first turn onto the Grand Canal in Venice. Takes your breath away, every time. Don't you agree?
