To help celebrate the launch of my mum’s book ‘A Gem of a Life’ I am pleased to say I will be exhibiting a showcase of my work at the Rubyvale Hall.

After more than 40 years since leaving the Gemfields I am looking forward to showing my work here for the very first time! Alongside other local gemcutters and jewellers.

Rubyvale Hall, 7-9 August
8am - 1pm

Also, mum will have copies of her book ‘A Gem of a Life’ The Nuell’s of Mills Gully. Mum has written this story about our family’s journey which took us to Rubyvale in the late sixties to mine sapphires in the ‘Bush’ and all the stories and characters from this unique place called the Gemfields.

Two fine Australian sapphires cut from one rough parti sapphire.
I was lucky to acquire this 19.50 carat sapphire on my trip to Rubyvale last year.

The stone had a small fracture running through it. When I sliced the stone in two there was a lovely piece of blue and a smaller piece of mainly yellow parti to cut.

The blue with some flashes of green cut a 3.97ct oval and the freeform step cut is 1.84cts

These stones are available and I will be showing them on my next trip to Rubyvale this coming August. More details to follow.

Stunning pair of unheated freeform step cut Australian sapphires 💥 cut from a large flat piece of rough sapphire sourced on my trip to Rubyvale last year. Weighing 3.63 and 4.83 carats with beautiful flashes of green and blue teals.

They both have a bronze and silky presence which in some light makes the stones darker but when viewed at the right angle and light they fire like the colours in a peacock! 💚💙

This is the only time opens its doors to the public, so it’s a rare chance to meet makers and go behind the scenes in their studios.
I’ll be opening my studio, come by and see my work and learn more about what I do.
This year also marks 40 years of Cockpit, with a special celebration 🥳 including an auction of 40 craft objects made by Cockpit makers and a wonderful exhibition of portraits of makers at Cockpit by

I was thrilled to be captured by as part of 40th anniversary celebrations. He has created a fantastic series of portraits of 40 makers from our studios.
The exhibition will be held as part of and will be open at our Bloomsbury studios on the 12th May.

A handful of Australian parti sapphires! In my post from early February I showed you these stones in the rough and preformed ready to cut. Stunning parti sapphires in all the blues, yellows and green cut in my freeform pebbles. 💎All around 2-4carats each.
Now what am I going to make with them 🤔

This piece of rough chrysophrase I have had for many years and have decided to start cutting it up for a new project.
Mined at Marlborough in Queensland I acquired it from my friends at Coolamon mining who also mine sapphires in Rubyvale.
This lovely rich apple green gemstone is found in nickel rich veins. I love the earthy iron colour coating the stone.
Do you think it will make a great combination with some yellow parti sapphires that I am cutting too? 🤔

I am thrilled to have received a Silver Award at last nights Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards at Merchant Taylor’s Hall last night.

For my freeform aquamarine and 18ct gold ring in the 3D Design Precious Jewellery category.
This 28.50 carat aquamarine was faceted by me and completely handmade by me into this one of a kind ring.

It was an amazing evening celebrating the extraordinary talent across our industry. Great to meet up with so many people. Thank you so much
