Before Gen Z buys luxury, many are asking a different question first: what will it be worth on resale?

That shift matters.

Luxury used to be sold primarily through craftsmanship, heritage, exclusivity and aspiration. Those things still matter, but younger consumers are increasingly conscious of what happens after the purchase. A handbag, watch or designer jacket can now be viewed not simply as something to own, but as an asset with a second life and a visible market value.

Resale platforms have made that value easier to see. Within seconds, shoppers can compare previous selling prices, understand which brands retain demand and decide whether paying full retail feels justified.

It is changing purchasing behaviour too. Pieces with recognisable design codes, enduring desirability and strong secondary-market demand can become easier to justify than highly seasonal purchases.

For luxury brands, this creates an interesting challenge. The customer is no longer evaluating a product solely at the point of purchase. They may also be thinking about longevity, scarcity, condition and future desirability.

The resale market isn’t simply competing with luxury retail anymore. Increasingly, it is becoming part of how the next generation decides what luxury is worth buying in the first place.

Matching Is Out. Dressing in the Same Fashion Language Is In.

Celebrity couple dressing is changing. Matching colours, identical designers and obviously coordinated outfits are giving way to something far more interesting: two people keeping their individual style while looking as though they belong in the same fashion world.

Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi are a good example. Recent appearances have combined relaxed silhouettes, strong colour, simple basics and understated luxury. Nothing technically matches, yet the looks feel connected.

Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles take a similar approach. Their wardrobes remain distinct, but shared elements such as monochrome dressing, relaxed tailoring, interesting accessories and an effortless approach to luxury create a visual connection.

This is the new rule of couple dressing: coordinate the language, not the outfit.

Think complementary colours rather than identical ones. Similar levels of formality. Compatible silhouettes. Shared textures or references. One person can wear tailoring while the other wears denim; one can introduce colour while the other stays neutral.

The point isn’t to look the same. It is to look good together without losing what makes your individual style yours.

Matching says: we planned our outfits together.

Fashion language says: we understand each other’s style.

Autumn doesn’t mean putting your skirts away. It means changing what you wear around them.

The easiest transition starts with pieces already in your wardrobe. Pair a satin or slip skirt with a fine knit and loafers, take a pleated midi into cooler weather with a fitted cardigan and boots, or wear a structured A-line skirt with a crisp white shirt and oversized blazer.

As temperatures fall, texture becomes important. Wool, suede, leather, denim and heavier cotton give skirts more structure, while cashmere and lightweight knits add warmth without making an outfit feel heavy. Longer hemlines work particularly well with knee-high boots, while mini skirts can feel surprisingly sophisticated with opaque tights, a long coat and simple flats or boots.

Keep the palette grounded in navy, black, chocolate brown, cream, grey and burgundy, then use accessories to bring the outfit together. A beautiful belt, structured bag or great pair of boots can completely change a skirt you have worn all summer.

The best autumn wardrobe isn’t an entirely new wardrobe. It is learning how to make the pieces you already love work harder as the season changes.

Here’s a clean, luxury-focused Instagram caption:

Flip flops are no longer just for the beach. Styled well, they become one of the most effortless pieces in a minimalist wardrobe.

The key is simplicity. Choose a sleek leather pair in black, tan or chocolate brown and pair them with relaxed linen trousers, crisp white shirts, flowing maxi dresses or tailored shorts. Add refined accessories such as a structured tote, understated gold jewellery and classic sunglasses, and let clean lines do the talking.

Minimalist style is never about wearing less for the sake of it. It’s about choosing pieces that feel timeless, considered and quietly luxurious.

Sometimes the most elegant outfit starts with the simplest shoes.

Perfect if paired with a clean, neutral aesthetic or luxury holiday imagery.

White minimalist dressing never goes out of style. It is effortless, timeless and one of the easiest ways to look polished throughout the summer. The secret isn’t adding more. It’s choosing beautifully cut pieces in premium fabrics such as linen, cotton and silk that work together effortlessly.

Build your wardrobe around relaxed tailoring, crisp white shirts, flowing wide-leg trousers, linen shorts, elegant waistcoats and simple dresses. Layer different shades of white, ivory and cream to create depth, then finish the look with tan leather sandals, woven accessories, gold jewellery and oversized sunglasses. The result is understated luxury that feels fresh whether you’re strolling through the city, enjoying a long lunch by the coast or heading away for the weekend.

Quiet luxury isn’t about logos. It’s about confidence, quality and investing in pieces you’ll wear season after season.
