I design in UK sizes 8 - 26, and haberdashery items. I am super excited about a brand new sewing book that I have coming out on 23rd February 2021 called: 'Sewing with African wax print fabric'. This book includes sewing patterns and instructions for 25 garments and accessories. It's a long story but to cut a long story short, I had been a barrister for 15 years. Then, when on maternity leave I thought about something else that I could do that could earn money and allow me to more easily work around a young family. I had seen an episode of the Sewing Bee in the summer of 2016 and about a month later I started evening classes in clothes making, tailoring, pattern cutting and African fashion to name but a few. Soon after learning how to sew, I made some clothes and accessories and began selling them at small pop-up events. In June 2017, I started the business. Today, I exhibit at many of the big fabric and craft shows in the country and I also regularly appear on Hochanda TV. I absolutely adore African wax print fabrics! They are printed using a wax-resist method that is similar to batik and have been described as a dream to sew with.
