GWEN&SYD is a ‘limited edition’ contemporary fashion and accessories brand based in London. Sensitive to the world we now inhabit, Eve - the brand’s designer - is inspired to be as sustainable and ethical as possible without losing the creativity that she has become known for. It is a fine balance, but one which is worthwhile in order to preserve the planet for future generations and maintain the
happiness of her own small place in this vast world. Eve believes that her ecological impact on the world should be as minimal as possible. As such, she works with organic fabrics where available, in addition to older, recycled fabrics or designer and store surplus to prevent these fabrics being dumped in landfill. Where organic or fair trade are unavailable, fabrics and hardware which are manufactured closer to the UK are prioritised so that there is less of a carbon footprint from her work; Eve also hopes that by sourcing closer to home, there is more chance of a fair wage being paid to those involved in the manufacturing of these fabrics. She also works to minimise waste within the design process; this aspect is something she thoroughly enjoys as she loves draping and pattern cutting and believes that this is one way that waste can be kept minimal. Where it is possible to do more, Eve is fully open to ideas, suggestions and collaborations. As well as designing and manufacturing each GWEN&SYD piece personally in the London studio, Eve also offers a made to order couture service for private clients and stylist collaborations.
