Starting a brand can be daunting. Here’s what over 15 years in the industry has taught us👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
1. Turn successful brands product pages into your private database.
Find brands you admire, copy a few product pages (composition, fit notes, price) and create a table with garment type, fabrics, price, key details, and why you think it works for the customer. Build yourself an instant industry benchmark for research.
2. Reverse search fabrics with a photo to cut sourcing time in half. Google image search with the composition is a great way to find a whole range of fabric possibilities.
3. Use industry tools!
SimilarWeb, Edited, WGSN and launch metrics to analyse trends, how top brands really perform, traffic, pricing and bestsellers in minutes.
4. Use notion as a digital atelier.
Create pages for:
•fit notes
• lab dips
• fabrics tested
•patterns
•trims and finishings
Access everything from your phone during fittings and showroom meetings.
5. Use colour psychology tools before choosing seasonal colour pallets.
Tools like the adobe colour wheel help you build pallets that feel elevated and cosistant.
6. Start with ONE hero product, not a whole collection. People think in order to be a “real brand” you need to tens of pieces at a time. When you’re starting out, collect information on how your garment is received to plan how you proceed.
