We recently had the pleasure of framing Catherine Opie’s wonderful new portrait of Elton John’s family, now hanging in the National Portrait Gallery.

The portrait is now on display on the first floor and coincides with the opening of Opie’s fantastic first UK exhibition ‘To Be Seen’.

An absolute joy to attend this morning’s preview of ‘A Second Life’ at Tate - a huge congratulations from all at Darbyshire to Tracey, Harry and all involved.

We are incredibly proud to have worked with Tracey since the early days of her career. The exhibition includes many works we have framed over the years, alongside several specially re-framed for this show, including the large appliqué blanket ‘Hotel International’ that greets you at the start of the exhibition. The frame was fabricated in our workshop and the work carefully stitched into place on site by our team of technicians.

Opening this Friday, this is the first full career exhibition of Tracey’s work in London in 15 years. For younger generations, this will be the first opportunity to see seminal works such as Why I Never Became a Dancer and My Bed in person.

Spanning painting, video, embroidery, bronze, neon, photography and more, the exhibition showcases the full breadth of Tracey’s practice. She explores grief and trauma but equally the joyful transcendence of both.

An absolute must see for all our clients and art lovers if you are in London over the coming months.
