Lisa King is a London based Print Designer known for her eponymous scarf label. Lisa King is a Bangkok born, London based print designer.

After studying at Central St. Martins and then working with Creative Director William Baker, she has gone on to work on projects with major clients including Armani, Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg, Boudicca, Issa, Club Monaco, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Her unique style of print is instantly recognisable and is richly researched with strong influences from her Thai and Indonesian bac

kground. Lisa meticulously studies her chosen themes, developing prints through a medium of hand drawing, painting and collage whilst playing with ideas of dichotomy and deconstruction. The result is a exploration and manifestation of stories played out in print, each scarf having a personal connection to Lisa herself. The brand enjoys a growing international retail presence, with stockists such as Barneys Japan, Mywardrobe.com, Coggles.com, and Figaro. New work for Studio Shan, a large batik painting for a residential home in West London.

Early in 2026, interior designer Lishan Tham reached out about creating a special piece for a family home in Holland Park, inspired by Malaysian flora and fauna and the colours of old Kuala Lumpur. This would be my largest batik piece to date and luckily making it coinciding with a trip to Bangkok where the weather is more forgiving for making batik.

Is this what you think of when you think of Walthamstow?
Neither do I! But a few months ago I was lucky enough to experience a workshop with Laura Perryman / Colour Design & Forecasting of Colour of Saying/CMF Research Studio and (who also helped me with ) at Treea Cracknell’s hq - a flower farm in the heart of the city. Thank you for such a beautiful day of taking colour inspiration from nature, making dye extracts and painting with seasonal plant dyes. I highly recommend attending their Autumn edition.

The Colour of Saying “Colour Lab: A Year in the Field” is a seasonal colour and natural dye workshop series held at The London Flower Farmer in Walthamstow, London. Led by design expert Laura Perryman and natural dye designer Amber Fry, the sessions involve foraging, extracting pigments, making botanical inks, and exploring the local, seasonal landscape.

Growing up in Thailand, Fridays meant piling into the car and driving down to Bangsarae. My father would load us onto his Hobie 16 catamaran and sail to the nearest island and always, folded under the straps of the brightly coloured trampoline of the boat was one of these woven Thai grass mats, or เสื่อ (sua). Compact enough to stow on a boat, generous enough to seat two adults and three small children for a picnic in the sun.

Naturally the day would come when I would need to design one for myself. Perfect for British park days, or festivals, or trips to Devon to see Sam Way ‘s family this is my version of the essential mat, woven in Thailand and trimmed with shell print ripstop. Restocked! ⚡️ Following an appearance at the Design Museum ‘s swimwear exhibition, we had all but sold out of our batik sarongs. Back by popular demand we have a limited number available.

The Mara kaftan and Kinta Sarong batik designed are based on a cabinet of shells and curiosities in the house I grew up in Baan Railei . The process of production involves me freehand drawing the pattern onto cloth, batik tulis and painting dyes - the Malaysian or Southern Thai interaction of . Artisans in Thailand then produce a limited run by hand, each piece takes 2 -3 days depending on the weather! Machine washable and lightweight they’re perfect for summer (or British heatwaves 🥵)

Who knew that young, playful, elusive, carefree, ‘should probably not ‘ albeit incredibly handsome man I met 17 years ago, would become the most devoted father.
