We are two sisters from different professions (photography and psychotherapy), but sharing creative interests from our childhood, that was spent in various parts of India. Currently, we live in different parts of the world (London and Bangkok), but travel around to source the items for our shop. Cinnamon Finch is a small venture started by us, to realise our dream and love for natural and pure han
dmade fabric and designs, made with traditional tools and methods. Our love for Indian textiles had been brewing from a very young age. Our parents always bought and wore textiles that were handspun, handwoven natural/organic pure cotton and/or silk, dyed with natural/vegetable dyes. Our father, an avid traveller, would purchase silk items from various parts of and around India, as gifts for friends and family. Exposure to the finest cloth in brilliant colours piqued our curiosity. This led us to learn and understand the regional significance in thread, cloth, weave and prints, and also helped us understand the skills, and painstaking work required to achieve excellence. With this head start, we desired to start an enterprise together, but never could figure out how, given our busy professional lives. Online shop seemed like a good place to initiate, but there was still a lot of preparation to be done. Travelling to various places, communicating and coordinating with the artisans, many-a-times with the help of a translator, was a task in and of itself. After years of deliberation, we decided to put our ideas into action, and bring to people what we thought was the finest. Our store only stocks natural, organic and pure items that are handmade and handwoven. It uses natural vegetable dyes for colouring, and hence are environmentally-friendly. These items are intricately & laboriously handwoven by weavers from remote parts of India. Our aim is to bring out customised designs, based on our past and current drawings. We also intend to start another range of accessories very soon.
