We spent time supporting “Adopt a School” launch at the end of last month.

It was a really positive day: schools involved, media there and support from the MP for Taunton and Wellington.

We provided take-home oral care packs on the day, helping children take what they’ve learned and actually use it at home.

For children with taste, smell and touch sensitivities, that’s often where it becomes more difficult.

Not because those children don’t understand, but because brushing doesn’t always feel manageable.
That came up in quite a few conversations throughout the day.

We also joined a roundtable with other organisations, trustees and policymakers which was valuable.

There are clearly a lot of people keen to address the same issue from many different angles.

And it feels important that those conversations are starting to come together.

A big thank you to the Magic Dentist team for making it happen.

So many parents tell us they thought brushing was a battle they just had to push through.

But for a lot of children, refusal is actually about how brushing feels, the taste, the foam, the smell or not knowing what to expect next. When those sensations feel overwhelming, saying “no” is often the only way they can communicate it.

That’s exactly why we created Buddies.
