The independent online boutique launched in late 2014, but was first created by Tonye Olisa Ifeachor in 2013 after she graduated from both London College of Fashion and the Fashion Retail Academy. Born in Britain with a Nigerian background, Tonye Olisa's style is very much influenced by a fusion o
f her cultures.
'Ego' represents being able to express attitude and confidence as a woman, which hopes to come across in all collections. The word 'Ego' also means 'Money' in the Nigerian language Igbo, and this is why fabrics have been carefully selected and sourced, for Her Ego (Her Money) to provide a label of quality. The label specialises in translating both of these meanings into contemporary tailored silhouettes that have the look and feel of expense, while making an individual statement for women. Tonye finds sourcing fabric straight from Africa fundamental in keeping her African print pieces authentic, while giving Fair Trade back to some of the local traders in Africa. Inspired culturally by structured shapes and embellishments, Tonye Olisa concentrates on making garments with distinctive touches to celebrate the sophistication and elegance of modern young women, with an edge.
