Always Sometimes Never

One of the most common questions we get asked about 3 button suits is which buttons should be fastened?

The classic ruling is always the middle, sometimes the top and never the bottom, however this rule is somewhat dated now as it originates back to the very early era of suits when traditionally people would get around on horse back, therefore bottom button would remain open so they could sit on the saddle.

• Leave the horse at home
