I’m a female small business owner, and I’m not afraid to admit that:
Some days all I want to do is stay in my oddie, forget my business and read a good book with my dogs
When life gets overwhelming, I need time on my own to recharge if not I fear I can’t carry on.
Elle Woods is PositiveHug’s muse, because like Elle, I have been judged many times for being blonde and wearing pink. I’m certain I was treated better in the workplace, when I dyed my hair dark brown for a while, but it wasn’t me so I changed it back.
I was bullied as a teenager for being ugly by girls as well as boys. I’ve learned these words never really leave you, but I’ve come to realise everyone is entitled to their opinion, and it doesn’t mean it’s correct. I’m unique in my own way.
I’ve always felt out of place, and different from other people. I don’t make friends easily, and I feel very awkward in social situations, but that’s just me; it’s never changed. I’ve simply learned to live with it, and it’s okay.
When I get stressed, I buy things to cheer myself up. I’m currently into buying cute Pop Mart stuff. Cute things and a sense of nostalgia have always brought me comfort when life gets a bit heavy.
I’m a feminist. I get really upset with how women are treated. Even in 2026, things are progressing, but not enough and it often feels like society is going backwards and it’s not right.
As someone who struggles with anxiety, I listen to meditations every night to help me sleep. They settle my mind and help me think positively about the future.
Being a small business owner and working from home can be very lonely sometimes. I wasn’t expecting this to be something I’d need to navigate, but I’ve joined business membership clubs and do free webinars as often as I can. I need to push myself into networking, but my anxiety can still get the better of me.
I’m not trying to be perfect; I’m still learning and growing. I wish someone had told me that making content and being on camera was essential for small business owners. I find it super scary.
If you need a safe space, this is it. Follow along for the journey
