Francesca Allen’s wedding dress made us swoon, and so did her hat!

For her chic London civil wedding at Old Marylebone Town Hall, Francesca chose the Day Dream gown by British bridal designer Caroline Castigliano – the look is a masterclass in how to make pared-back bridal feel seriously special.

The sculpted column silhouette was created in Italian crepe cady, with a couture corset, figure-hugging pencil skirt and bespoke high ball-button detailing to the rear.

And then there’s the styling… Boodles jewellery and that fabulous wide-brimmed veiled hat by couture milliner Awon Golding brought a fashion-forward edge to the beautifully restrained gown.

Modern city bridal done very, very well!

Meet The Makers!

We get to know a brand new name to the bridal accessories scene: Bag of Brides.

This brand is what happens when an architect turns her eye to bridal fashion! The line is full of sculptural shapes, beautiful fabrics and wedding bags that are every bit as considered as the dress.

The creative behind the label is Alexandra Niemi Olsen, who launched Bag of Brides this year. Every Bag of Brides piece is handmade by Alexandra, either as a one-off or in deliberately limited quantities. Some take up to 50 hours to create.

Her inspiration? Vintage handbags and hand-sewn pieces belonging to her grandmothers, the possibilities of fabric, her architectural background and a belief that bridal accessories can reveal a completely different side of a bride’s personality. The designer says: “The dress itself might be chosen from an idea of something timeless and elegant, and your accessories will reflect the more fun, unique, chic, rebellious versions of you.”

The styles we’ve saved this August…

Is AI imagery helping bridal? Or are we losing something…

AI-generated imagery is everywhere in fashion, and it isn’t going away. But when it comes to bridal retail and the bridal boutique experience, it raises some interesting questions.

We know that today’s brides are looking for authenticity – for things that are personal and real. They want to understand how a wedding dress really looks and moves. Increasingly, they want to see real dresses on real bodies. Because, what do future brides love seeing most? Other real brides!!!

Real wedding dresses, real body shapes, real styling and of course, real weddings. That kind of content can build trust and help a bride imagine themself in a dress in a way that even the most beautiful AI-generated bridal image will struggle to replicate.

So, where does AI imagery fit into the future of bridal fashion? Brilliant bridal retail insider and Bridal Buyer expert Joanna Southwell shares her thoughts; there is plenty here for boutique owners and the wider wedding industry to think about.

Neckline news! The halter is front and centre right now. Why? Because it can take on a huge manner of vibes with just a few tiny tweaks.

We think the halter has become one of the most exciting bridal trends to watch, with designers playing with crossover necklines, liquid satins, sculptural corsetry, lace, draping and even dramatic ballgown proportions.
