Pretty pastels, William Morris prints, fresh florals and wonderfully ‘wofty’ (it’s a word we decided at the sample book class earlier this month 🤭🤣) waffle fabrics…

This latest delivery is all about subtle colours & delicate design, I get excited by bold prints but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea! This gentle range of viscose and cotton blends makes perfect summer dressmaking fabrics, there’s even been a few additions to our craft cottons too that complement the vibe 👌

All fabrics are now live on the website for a closer inspection or for those of you attending social sewing this week (or you want to pop in whilst sessions are running) you and touch and feel too 😍 …maybe even check out the ‘woftyiness’ 🤣

Happy Birthday Marley 🥳

Marley and her cutest girl gang 💕 made themselves these gorgeous personalised signs! This reception class knew all of there letters and names ranged from Mia’s 3 letters to Everleigh’s whopping 9 letters 🤭

There was lots of fun finding their letters, choosing rainbow colours & plenty of fine motor skills drawing, cutting and arranging them on their boards! Pom-poms made cute additions before the girls they finished with the crafting and danced the rest of the party away in the studio, finished off with a party picnic 🥰

What a great way to celebrate turning 5!!!

We have beautifully lined beach bags!
We had added extra features such as welt pockets, tiny purses and lobster clip key chains They are totally personalised, really practical and absolutely gorgeous.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge well done to Matilda & show case her amazing sewing skills, creativity & growth both technically but also in confidence!

Matilda is 14 & we’ve been an hours 1:1 every other week for a few months, she had never used a sewing machine before but has a huge interest in period clothing!

Recently she came with inspiration photograph of Abigail Morris from band ‘The last dinner party’ and she has set about recreating it!

We have hacked tillybuttons fully lining and adding side ties and made the thelittlepomegranate with the most incredible restyle on the ruffle 👌🏻

It’s overlocked, it has pockets, the lined bodice is perfectly slip stitched, it’s a brave but rewarding project for and sewer but given Matilda’s age & short sewing journey I think it’s incredible 🙌🏻

Happy 7th Birthday Sali 🥳
What a gorgeous morning making wreaths, Sali’s craft of choice…we had personalised wreaths for bedroom doors, Jacob’s design contained the solar system and Ava made a turtle, today I also learnt about ‘bunnycorns’ who new 🤭 🦄 🐰
I just love that they all started with the same base materials but the outcomes were so widely varied and creative!

One of the biggest influential factors in creating a success wardrobe is choosing the right fabric for your project!

It’s something I talk about alot, my inner textile geek loves learning (& sharing) about fabric fibres and textile technology! There’s lots to consider from weight & drape, stretch, fibre blends, crease resistance, natural ‘v’ manmade, or woven, bonded or knit… doesn’t it sound like a lot 🥴

But our sample book session aims to ease your struggle when it comes to buying fabrics online! The aim of our sample book session is to give you confidence in identifying 36 most common fabrics…our sample book is unlike other sample books and we encourage you to put it together yourself by feeling, stretch & inspecting each sample (of course with some help) to match up the description to each fabric!

Stretch percentage guide included
weight, fibre content, recommended needle type for each fabric & ideal projects to make!
Plus blank card inserts for saving your swatches from your previous projects, or do swaps with a friend.

We had a fantastic morning in the studio yesterday getting to grips with our overlockers; tackling tensions, adjusting the knife position & learning about disengaging it, recognising the good the bad on the ugly with the differential feed, changing stitch lengths, negotiating different shapes and even doing a flat lock hem! There was SO much leaning & seeing everyone’s confidence grow was great!
Our May workshops are all about learning skills, refining our sewing and understanding more about fabric fibres & feet (machine ones that is 🤭)
