Behind the Scenes at HQ
Friend: Cheryl, I was beginning to think HQ had gone into hibernation. Not a bear in sight lately.
Me: If only! It’s silly season at the seaside — craft fairs every week, family everywhere, and me sewing caravan curtains like I’m running a soft‑furnishings department.
Friend: Caravan curtains? You don’t stop, do you?
Me: Not even for breath. Every time I sit down to start a bear, someone calls out, “Cheryl, can you just…?” and off I trot again.
Friend: And your stall — you’ve been making stock like you’re prepping for a national craft emergency.
Me: I know. I’ve stitched so much bunting I’m dreaming in pastel triangles. But I did sneak off for a one‑day course at the weekend.
Friend: Oh? What did you learn this time — underwater basket weaving?
Me: Pattern drafting! A whole new design skill. My brain melted halfway through, but I came out buzzing. Got ideas already.
Friend: So the bears are on a little holiday, but HQ is still very much alive.
Me: Exactly. Bears will be back soon. Right now it’s curtains, fairs, family, and me trying not to lose my scissors for the tenth time today.

These keepsake cushions have just been delivered to their forever home. ❤️

They were lovingly handmade using 6 shirts and 3 sweatshirts, with the only request being to include a pocket on the front of each cushion.

The mix of shirt checks, stripes and sweatshirt fabric gives each one its own character while still looking like a matching set.

I'm delighted to say the customer was absolutely thrilled with them! One cushion will be going to her daughter, while the other two will be taking pride of place on her sofa – a wonderful way to keep precious memories close every day.

Such a tender milestone.
She’s not just a bear; she’s a piece of someone’s mum, shaped into something warm and holdable, carrying the softness of a skirt and the familiarity of a blouse that once lived real moments.
