Z in the attic

Z in the attic Zero waste sewing creating reusable fun & colourful products. Home of the Adventure Pants Here we are creating zero waste sewing.

Hi welcome to the home of Adventure Pants- our little slice of bright reusable life. Making colourful, beautifully practical and sustainable products whilst saving fabrics from landfill and waste. We only use remnants, deadstock and roll end fabric , sometimes pieces are too small to make garments so we turn them into something else. Each piece is often individual and always unique. We hope you en

Marketing budget: £0.

Budget for fabric, sewing machines, making things properly and trying to keep as much textile waste out of landfill as possible: basically all of it.

So yeah… our marketing isn’t exactly slick.

There’s no crew.
No fancy studio.
No one telling me where to stand.

Just me, my phone, a sticker, and a slightly ridiculous amount of determination.

I’d much rather spend the money on making the actual products than making them look good on Instagram.

It might not be perfect.

But then, neither am I.

And that’s probably more honest anyway.

Well this was a lovely surprise to wake up to…

Z in the Attic has been nominated for the Love Your High Street Awards!

And this is the bit that made me properly smile:

“Zoë makes the most amazing clothes using off cuts, end of line materials and bits that would normally be heading to landfill.”

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do with this little business.

Take fabrics that might otherwise be forgotten about and turn them into something useful, colourful and bloody brilliant.

From Adventure Pants and period pants to kids’ clothes, bags, reusable bits and everything in between.

And now, with the shop, I’m also getting to share the other part of what I love,
teaching people to sew and bringing people together through workshops and sewing sessions.

I’m a one-woman business, so being nominated for something like this genuinely means a lot.

I’ve got a form to fill in now to hopefully make it through to the finalist stage…

So fingers crossed!

And whoever nominated me, thank you 🧡 You’ve made my day.

I’m not at Just So this year.

I’m actually away on holiday until the 23rd.

But Z in the Attic is going anyway.

The brilliant Scoop & Scales are taking some of my reclaimed-fabric goodies along with them, including a LOT of animal-print Grow With Me harems and headbands.

Which, given that it’s Carnival of the Animals, feels pretty bloody perfect.

And when you look at what Just So are doing this year-pre-loved, reuse, zero-waste shopping, swapping, making and generally finding ways to tread a little lighter-it feels like a very good place for Z in the Attic to be.

So if you’re heading to Just So, go find Scoop & Scales and have a rummage.

I might not be there…

but my pants are.

Well… I may have taken this part of Just So very seriously.

I’ve sent a whole load of animal-print Grow With Me harems and headbands along with Scoop & Scales.

The brilliant Scoop & Scales are taking some Z in the Attic stock along with them.

So if you’re heading to Just So, go and find them and have a rummage.

Just So’s sustainability plans for 2026 are right up my street.

Pre-loved merch. Zero-waste shopping. Reuse. Swapping. Making. Repairing.

Basically, keeping good stuff in circulation rather than constantly making more new stuff.

I’ve built Z in the Attic around exactly that idea.

Reclaimed fabrics. Deadstock. Offcuts. Roll ends.

Taking fabrics that already exist and turning them into clothes that people actually want to wear.

I love seeing a festival think about the little things as well as the big ones.

Because sustainability isn’t one giant gesture. It’s lots of smaller choices adding up.

So if you’re at Just So this weekend, go find Scoop & Scales.

You might spot some Z in the Attic.

And if you do… send me a photo because I’m going to be ridiculously jealous.

Have the BEST time, Just So people.

Did you know the Eye Pillow can go in the freezer?

Yep. 15 minutes in the freezer = gloriously cold eye pillow.

Perfect for these hot summer days when you need to lie down, switch off (and pretend nobody needs anything from you for five minutes).

Made with reclaimed fabrics and filled with natural ingredients, these little beauties are useful and zero-waste.

Pop it in the freezer. Put it over your eyes. Breathe.

You’re welcome.

A special pair of Adventure Pants for a special person.

These were made with the seams on the outside and absolutely nothing scratchy or unnecessary on the inside (no labels, no internal seams).

Sometimes it’s the little details that make a pair of Adventure Pants feel just right.

And yep, this is something I can definitely do for you too.

If you’d like your Adventure Pants made this way, just leave me a note when you order, or pop into the shop and have a chat with me.

Because when you’re making clothes rather than mass-producing them, you can make them work for the person wearing them.

Your pants. Your way.

Holiday mode is officially ON…

But while I’m away, there are still two very good reasons to get yourself booked into Macclesfield Textile Week.

Whether you fancy making a statement with reclaimed buttons or creating your own skirt, there’s a workshop waiting for you.

Small groups, plenty of support and a chance to spend time making something just for you.

And if you book any of these workshops during August, use SUMMER (for the skirt) or SUMMER10. (For the collar) for 10% off.

Bookings are open while I’m away,so if you’ve been thinking about it, now’s the time.

I’ll be back after a proper rest!

Z in the Attic started with fabric that deserved a second chance.

What began as a love of sewing and creating has grown into a shop, a studio and a place where other people can discover their own creativity too.

That’s why I love teaching workshops.

It’s not about being perfect.
It’s not about making something worthy of a competition.

It’s about sitting down, learning something new and leaving with something you created yourself.

And that feeling is pretty special.

You don’t need to be able to make a whole garment to start sewing.

Sometimes the best place to begin is with one small project, a pile of beautiful buttons and a few hours to create something completely unique.

My Make a Statement Collar Workshop is all about slow stitching, creativity and giving reclaimed materials a new life.

Using reclaimed denim and a treasure trove of vintage and reclaimed buttons, you’ll create your own detachable statement collar.

No sewing experience needed.

Just come along, get creative and enjoy an evening of making (and your ticket also includes a voucher for your first drink, so you can settle in and enjoy the evening.)

Hosted at The Button Warehouse during Macclesfield Textile Week.

And remember, book any Z in the Attic workshop during August and use code SUMMER10 for 10% off.

There’s something really special about seeing a handmade piece leave the studio and become part of someone else’s everyday life.

Every pair of Adventure Pants, every jumpsuit / dress, every creation starts with fabric that could have been forgotten and ends with something made to be loved and worn.

Thank you to everyone who chooses handmade, reclaimed and small business.

If you’ve been waiting for your own piece of Z in the Attic, the website is open for orders.
