Space Pirate Prosthetic 🦾

This is a throwback to a uni project I worked on last year.

The brief was ‘space pirate’, which gave me some fun ideas 🏴‍☠️ 🪐

I had a failed print in the process 🙄
I decided to turn that in to an aged, battle-worn piece, which then got used within the ‘story’ as the ‘authentic article’ of our character, with the intact arm shown as a reproduction.

This design is used as a genuine prosthetic for people who don’t have fingers but retain their palm, and allows the fingers to flex when the wrist is bent.

The full arm is functional, albeit a little stiff in use, due to the use of EL wire instead of elastic, but the way it lights up is so mesmerising! 🤩

I wish I knew how many times I shocked myself when doing the wiring for those lights, I’m fairly sure my hair will never lay flat again 🤣

B E N D E R 🤖

Today marks the one year anniversary of completing this project, and I have to say, it’s one of my favourite pieces I’ve done so far.

He’s a functional desk tidy, boasting two large storage sections (head and eyes), a 6-port USB hub and a wireless phone charger 🤓

As you can see, mine still has pride of place on my desk 🤩 and my customers have been loving him just as much as I do, making him my bestseller to date!

Bender is available to purchase in three options: the file to use with your own 3D printer, the housing (electronics not included), or the full works - complete with electronics and ready to use.

Mould Making Monday!

Making moulds of objects is always a fun distraction 😉

These were for a client who wanted to be able to make their own resin ‘bow ties’ for woodwork.

When working with large, solid slabs of natural wood, it’s very easy for cracks to appear and spread. By using ‘bow ties’ to span these cracks, you can prevent them from spreading any further.

I had the pleasure a short while ago of producing these Viking-themed items for a client. 🤩

Each printed the size of a small dinner plate, they came out absolutely beautifully, and will (I hope!) be on display for many years to come! 🥰

Love is in the air! 💚

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I couldn’t help but churn out a few of these gorgeous little Grogu figures 🥰

Chaoseater… the angry blade thirsts for destruction 🗡

So, who of you recognise this sword? 😉

For those who don’t, this massive beast is the Chaoseater from the Darksiders game series.

Unfortunately, it’s owner was a bit clumsy, and decided to test its resilience by dropping it on the floor! 😬

Luckily, I don’t just make props, I repair them, too! 🤓
High spec adhesives, resin and some intensive time spent with sandpapers, finished with a coat (or two) of paint, and it’s been restored, looking as good as new!

Look how happy he is now with it! (And what an awesome beard 🤩)

I’ve finally finished my uni project! 🤩

For the last few weeks, I’ve modelled, 3D printed, painted and assembled this desktop organiser, based on the baddest bot with the shiniest butt, BENDER FROM FUTURAMA! 🤖

This has the pride of place now, next to my PC!
It has a storage area in the head, a 6-port USB hub, a wireless phone charger, and the eyes open as a drawer.

This has been a real labour of love, and I’ve learnt so much about CAD and finishing techniques.

I’m open for commissions! If anyone wants something like this, just get in touch!

My current uni module has got me designing a desktop organiser, and I’ve decided to work it around everyone’s favourite ‘large and in charge’ robot, Bender!

This will have me incorporating elements of CAD, circuitry and gear layouts, all of which I’m clueless with, so wish me luck 🤞🏻

So, many of you have seen I add arrow holes to foam armour. That works well enough, but oftentimes, your enemies are armed with swords too 🙄
