I'm in the throws of sorting through my studio, clearing out lots of craft items and also packing boxes in readiness for moving house. I couldn't help reminiscing when I came across this photo of one of our 'crafternoons'.

Our house has been a great space for crafting and I shall miss having such a family friendly area where we gathered together to work on a variety of projects pre-Covid.

This year has been strange with really stressful points but, as it comes to a close, hopefully we can still look back on happy memories and reflect and learn from the 'down-time' Covid has imposed.

Our new house is still under construction so for a few months we will be staying with my parents in Lincolnshire. I'm honestly looking forward to being together as we've only seen each other virtually since March.

I have some hand sewing (a patchwork quilt in the making) to take with me to keep me occupied. It should have been a wedding gift for my daughter but I well-and-truly missed that deadline. Hopefully I can speed it along as my mum and I chat together in the evenings ahead.

After no blogging for quite some time I've added a post about the Ferris Wheel pattern here: https://patchworkalley.blogspot.com/2020/04/ferris-wheel-patchwork.html

The picture below shows the traditional hand sewing of patchwork pieces, using a 'whip' stitch. Anyone who knows me will know I always have something portable to sew and sometimes I do finish things - this pretty patchwork became a bench cover for my hallway.

I'm now a Swap Mama for the second round of the Polaroid Greeting Swap being organised by Johanna Weidner (from Canada).

She has set up a blog to share the details at http://polaroidgreetingswap.blogspot.co.uk which has some great links to tutorials and ideas.

My groups are each made up of 11 or 12 swappers who make 2 blocks for each of the other members and send them in a greeting card. In return they receive blocks from each of the other members of the swap team.

The hashtags for the teams can be followed on Instagram: Patchwork Polaroids ( ) and Snap Happy Polaroids ( ) along with the main tag ... there are some great photos already!

Participants in the Polaroid Greeting Swap - now in the second round - can find all the information they need about the swap here.

Looking forward to the Horsforth Walk of Art again this summer ...

We all had such an enjoyable day welcoming Walk of Art visitors to The Middle last year - that this year Patchwork Alley - Nessycraft - and Made in The Middle Illustration will be combining creative forces with Zoë Eady (of The Glass Garden) and Andy Sykes (Animator and Cartoonist) to form an 'Art Village' on the verge! Our brains are teeming with ideas. Please do put Saturday 2nd July in your diary and join us for a coffee amongst the stalls!

It's hard to believe it is nearly a year since Honfleur was our holiday stop. The little streets with their patchwork of houses, shops and colourful displays were a delight ... and the harbour at night was beautiful!
