glect. This applies to all the children and young people, with whom we work, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, nationality or country of origin. We recognise that similar responsibilities cover our work with young people with learning disabilities until they are 25 years of age. Workers, including volunteers, will at all times, show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and welfare of the children and young people involved with ‘So Together’. We will ensure that staff and volunteers know how to respond to concerns that a child or young person may be abused or neglected. We will review our policies and procedures on an annual basis. ‘So Together’ with Sam White believes that it is always unacceptable for a child or young person to experience abuse of any kind. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people. We will be alert to any indications of neglect, physical, emotional or sexual abuse in the children and young people with whom we work and will respond to their needs. We value and respect every child and young person and will endeavour always to listen to them and respond appropriately to safeguard them. We will adhere rigorously to the ‘Guidance for Safer Working Practice for Adults who work with Children and Young People’ published by The Department for Children, Schools and Families. Photography Policy
Avoid using children’s names (first name or surname) in photograph captions. If the child is named, avoid using his or her photograph. If the photograph is used, avoid naming the child. Use a parental permission form to obtain consent for a child to be photographed/videoed. Obtain child’s permission to use their image. Only use images of children in suitable dress to reduce the risk of inappropriate use. Address the use of images of children on the organisation’s website. Images accompanied by personal information, eg, this is X who likes to collect stamps – could be used by an individual to learn more about a child prior to grooming them for abuse. Written expectations of professional photographers or the press who are invited to an event, making clear the organisation’s expectations of them in relation to child protection. Do not allow photographers unsupervised access to children. Do not approve photography sessions outside the event or at a child’s home.
