In 2023 Swiscot Group took a leap forward in our sustainability journey with the appointment of Rachael Shah as our Head of Sustainability. have taken the time to put together a case study looking at our progress after attending the Journey to Net Zero course. It covers our approach to emissions measurement, staff engagement and data collection for scope 3. Earlier this month, Swiscot’s Head of Digital & Sustainability, Rachael Shah was part of a panel at ‘People, Planet, Profit’ hosted by UBS, psd group, and Green Economy at King Street Townhouse.

The panel discussed the need for business leaders to balance these three aspects in general business and specifically in their ESG strategy.

Also on the panel were Dean Turner | Economist in UK Investment Office - UBS and Alasdair Dalzel-Job | Net Zero & Sustainability Lead - Green Economy and was attended by business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the North West which shows the growing interest in understanding the full breath of sustainability on businesses moving forward.

May 13th-19th is and Team Swiscot has been busy this year learning more about mental health and how to improve our support for those who struggle with it.
Carol, Al, and Karen have just completed their Certifications. Carol said that the session made her do things slightly differently now. “I think I listen more now and let people talk without interrupting – which I didn’t realise that I was doing. The course focused on looking after ourselves, on the understanding that. If you look after yourself, you will be better able to look after others.
Also last month Diane and Justyna attended the event ‘Enhancing Wellbeing Through Environment’. The event featured an expert panel with Martina Motivator Witter, Niamh Allen CMgr MCMI, Kathy Brooke, Kirsty Collin, and Dan Searson who spoke about practical ways to improve your wellbeing including taking regular outdoor breaks, improving air quality, and taking time to move around and reset your focus.

Last month our Head of Digital & Sustainability, Rachael Shah was inducted into the Worshipful Company of Launderers (WCL). The WCL is a fellowship that brings together different professional disciplines and interests, primarily, but not limited to the laundry and textile industry to promote industry knowledge, generate debate, and encourage innovation within and beyond the laundry industry.

Yesterday our head of sustainability Rachael Shah attended the Textile Services Association Supplier Sustainability Showcase Day 2024. Representing Linen Connect

It was a superb day galvanising suppliers and partners across the whole textile supply chain. Highlighting opportunities for collaboration to reduce our emissions.

We joined a panel with fellow linen suppliers talking about the benefits of Better Cotton - there's a huge opportunity to make an impact on cotton farming.

Many thanks to all the other panellists for their insights and contributions to this topic. In particular Södra The Salvation Army on infinite textiles scheme.

🌿 Aligning to NHS Net Zero Goals: Carbon Reduction Plans 🌿

We've just participated in an insightful NHS webinar, on the NHS supplier Carbon Reduction Plans (CRPs) deepening our commitment to sustainable sourcing.

As committed suppliers to the NHS, we're gearing up to meet the detailed requirements set for April 2024, in line with the NHS net zero supplier roadmap.

Our ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint are not just about compliance; they're about taking proactive steps towards a sustainable future for all.

Swiscot is on working towards our Carbon Reduction Plan. The NHS's visionary goal of becoming a net zero health service by 2045 sets a roadmap to support SMEs to make the changes required.

Progress over perfection is important to remember in this space.
