From last-minute outfit finishes and getting gala-ready to transforming the venue with bows, red carpets, and creativity, the Sewn at Midnight Gala became an unforgettable night of connection, fashion, and inspiration but most importantly, the celebration of the maker behind every stitch!

Huge thanks to everyone who came, to , Vlieseline Freudenberg UK, Leons Fabrics Chorlton Manchester, , , , to Luke-Matthews, and all the staff!

My problem now is how can I make the next one bigger and better?

It felt like forever since our last Sew&Bond™!

It was lovely to see everyone again, including some new faces and some we hadn’t seen in a while. ❤️

We tried a different seating arrangement today and it turned out perfect. It created such a lovely atmosphere for bonding, chatting, and sharing ideas.

And surprisingly, even with all the conversations, it was a very productive session.

There were lots of alterations being done on older handmade garments, as well as pillowcases, headbands, dresses, pouches, tops, trousers, and even some drafting.

It was lovely spending the day with you all as always.

And once again, the food was lovely! There was a new addition to the menu, homemade elderflower cordial with mint and, according to the chef, it took him two days to make 🤷‍♀️ . Safe to say everyone loved it, especially in the warm weather.

Thank you so much for coming! Looking forward to our next Sew&Bond™ ❤️

H has become so much more confident at her sewing machine since our first session.

This time we sewed a zipper for the first time!

H loves Harry Potter which was the fabric she chose for this pouch.

We also added a tab with a lobster hook so it can be attached anywhere.

For the finishing touch, H wanted to add a little bit of sparkle so we glued on some shiny feet.🤩

Day Two of creating C’s Yuji Itadori cosplay and we are making great progress! 🤩

The mission continues and we are nearly finished with the trousers.

Today, we sewed all the trouser legs together and created an elasticated waistband, which really helped bring the design to life. It’s amazing how quickly a pile of fabric starts to look like an actual costume once everything begins taking shape.

All that’s left to do now is hem the trousers and then we’ll be ready to move on to the next stage.

Next up…the top half of the outfit! 😍

With two more sessions still to go, I’m excited to see this cosplay come together and can’t wait to share the next update.

A little overdue…but definitely worth itQ

I finally got to hand-deliver a special Sewn at Midnight Gala goodie bag to the one and only and properly thank them for being part of the first ever gala in the North West!

After a quick peek inside the bag, Luke invited me into the studio to see where all the sewing magic happens.

Moments like this are exactly why I love organising sewing events, celebrating creativity, building community and meeting amazing people we may never have crossed paths with otherwise.

And this is only the beginning!

Aziza came for a sewing lesson after years of wanting to start and it was a really positive first step into sewing for her!

We spoke about sewing machines in detail, what features to look out for as a beginner and I showed her a range of my Janome machines so she could get a feel for what would suit her needs as she is currently looking to buy her very first machine. She also brought along a sewing project she had already started.

Aziza had cut out a tote bag and needed a little help putting it together as a complete novice. She learned how to sew straight lines, turn out bag straps neatly, and we also discussed how she could elevate the finish with a lining.

She picked everything up really quickly, worked with confidence as the session went on and did an excellent job bringing her project together! ❤️

A bit of tangent...I’ve realised over time that teaching is really where I thrive (from being an instructor in my previous non-sewing role to now). What started as a passion has naturally developed into a real strength through experience and consistent positive feedback from students (more than 125 now!). I love helping people move from feeling unsure to confident, and for me, it’s genuinely the most meaningful part of my work.

J was back for week 5 and we made a skirt!

We used her measurements to make a simple elasticated waist skirt in a polka dot fabric.

We continued to practise sewing straight lines, using an overlocker and pressing fabric, and we created a channel to insert the elastic.

Well done J! It turner out great!🤩

J was back for week 4!

This fabric is so cute and everything we've been making with it just looks gorgeous!

We made a cushion cover with french seams, added interfacing and buttonholes, and did some topstitching.

J did an excellent job! I nearly kept the cushion cover for myself it's so cute!
