Happy Earth Day!
I hope you’re all safe and looking after yourselves 💛
How is everyone coping 4 weeks into staying at home? I’ve definitely been up and down. It’s hard having Cece at home all day while trying to work my day job and find time for the new Everything’s Sweet range.
One thing I am enjoying is the slower pace. My day usually starts at 5.55 with an hours commute, a gym session, a full day at work and an hours commute home 🤮 Now it starts at 7.30 with Cece coming into our bed for a cuddle (sometimes we manage a zoom PT or yoga video). I love being able to eat lunch with my family and go for a walk in the sun, rather than scoffing lunch at my desk and barely seeing the light of day. I even love having the time to put a wash on.
Yes, I miss my family, friends and colleagues like crazy and feel like a terrible parent when Cece wants to play super hero’s again and don’t have time or just can’t face it, but I can’t imagine going back to the 5.55 start. I don’t want to go back to driving 2 hours every day. I don’t want to go back to seeing my daughter for 1 hour a day. I don’t want to go back to the rat race pace of the broken capitalist economy. The point is, and I hope we’re all learning this, we can all do with much less. If anyone else has had a clear out and is repulsed by the amount of s**t that you never use, that you spent money on, that someone made, wasted energy on, just to sit on top of your fu***ng fridge, then you know this.
I’m looking forward to the future but I don’t want to get “back to normality”. I want this time to inspire real change.
Mother Earth is living her best life at the moment. Us slowing down is giving her time to recover and might just hold the answer for us living happily together for the foreseeable 🌍
