# 1. **Are the walks free?**
- Yes, all walks are free.

# 2. **What time do the walks start?**
- Most walks start at 11 a.m. (unless otherwise advertised).

# 3. **How far do you walk?**
- Typically between 3 and 5 miles (unless otherwise advertised).

# 4. **How long do the walks last?**
- Walks generally last between 90 and 120 minutes, depending on the pace and stops. Occasionally, longer "Extended" walks are advertised.

# 5. **Why isnโ€™t there a fixed duration or distance for the walks?**
- Our walks vary and adapt based on the group and the dayโ€™s conditions, so they may change at the last minute.

# 6. **Can I bring my dog?**
- Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.

# 7. **Can I bring children?**
- Yes, children are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

# 8. **Do the walks finish where they start?**
- Yes, unless a linear walk is specifically advertised.

# 9. **Are there stiles or other obstacles on the walk?**
- Occasionally, we may need to cross fields or navigate stiles and other barriers. Assistance is always available when needed.

# 10. **Why are the walks free?**
- We are a voluntary group. Our walk leaders offer their time freely and do not get reimbursed. Walks are free, and we donโ€™t charge for membership or entry fees. Any costs, like insurance, are covered through fundraising events (such as quiz nights) or donations.

# 11. **How can I contact you?**
- You can reach us by:
- Clicking the 'Send Message' link on our page.
- Emailing us at **[email protected]**
- Calling us at **07467 834153**
For general questions, feel free to leave a comment, and one of our regular walkers will respond.

# 12. **Why do you not a have a WebSite?**
- We know a website would be useful, but right now we simply do not have the resources to create and maintain one. Websites require: - Time- Money - Technical and Artistic knowledge.
- These are listed in order of what is most precious to us โ€” especially volunteer time.
- We currently use Facebook as our main platform because it is free and allows us to quickly share walk details, photos, and community updates.
- If someone cannot access Facebook, our walk programme can also be found online through Mansfield CVS, at the link they kindly provide. https://www.mansfieldcvs.org/

# 13 ** why do you not walk at weekends?**
# 14 ** why do you not have evening walks?**
- We would like to offer weekend and evening walks, and it has been known to happen. However, due to other commitments, it can be difficult to find the time, and for safety reasons we prefer to have two walk leaders on every walk. There are also plenty of other groups walking at weekends, as many of us are already members of the Ramblers and other walking and hiking groups.

# # Please remember:
- We are a not-for-profit group
- We charge nothing to take part in our walks
- We receive no funding
- Everything we do is voluntary

Helping run the group is part of a positive community service that many of us enjoy and find rewarding.

Thankful Thursday with Stan from The Larch Farm Pub๐ŸŒณโ˜•

A huge thank you to Stan for leading todayโ€™s walk, and to Tony and Sheila for capturing the day in photos. Extra thanks to everyone who tagged along and offered a helping hand when I needed it.

Stan took us on a fantastic, memorable 5-mile routeโ€”winding through the trees, visiting the Abbey grounds and exploring the Japanese Garden, and also taking in the Great Lake and waterfall. That shot of Heather framed by the backdrop was definitely the photo of the day ๐Ÿ“ธ

We rounded it off perfectly back at The Larch Farm Pubโ€”massive thanks to the team there for the warm hospitality, great food, and refreshing drinks.

As many of you know, I love an early morning swim, and the tempting ponds in the Japanese Garden proved a bit too hard to resist... so yes, I managed to get wet again today๐Ÿ›Ÿ ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ˜…

Looking ahead: Tomorrow weโ€™re off on a fantastic, adventurous walk starting from The Coopers Hope to see you there.

๐ŸŽค True Walking and Talking โ€” I do love the sound of my own voice๐Ÿ˜‚

It was great to pick up where Anne had paused with her walks, and today I chose a circuit that takes in some of the areas I really enjoy and have had so much fun exploring over the years.

Todayโ€™s circuit was 4miles in just over two hours, and I hope I didnโ€™t spoil the walk by rambling on too much ๐Ÿคฃ After all, there was plenty to talk about.

A special mention has to go to Shlomo and his son Josh ( Spa Ponds Local Nature Reserve ), whose knowledge of the history and nature around Spa Ponds and that whole tract of land really added to the walk. ๐ŸŒณ

The history of the 1918 Clipstone Camp was also something I was reminded of by Bob and Irene, who used to lead On-Your-Doorstep walks around here when I first moved up this way. Itโ€™s amazing how walking these paths can bring back memories and stories from years ago.

A huge thank you to Karen, Sheila and Sue for the photographs ๐Ÿ“ธ, and thank you to everyone who came along today and contributed to the great conversations.

And, as one of the Yvonne's put it, because of their difference of opinions today, they had managed to put the whole world to rights๐Ÿ˜‚

To be honest, I reckon our walkers are far more powerful than some of those so-called world leaders โ€” at least we seem to have a clue what weโ€™re talking about! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐ŸŒ

And I for one have so much respect for several of those on todayโ€™s walk. Their knowledge goes way beyond the ordinary โ€” itโ€™s immeasurable, and itโ€™s something we regularly benefit from. Whether itโ€™s history, nature or just knowing the area inside out, there always seems to be someone who can add something fascinating and helpful to our walks. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒณ

It was also great to see Tony and Tracey drop by for a chat, and before that, near the end of the walk, my neighbours Paul and Katie suddenly emerged from the forest with two very wet dogs, Paddy and Max! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’ฆ

Another walk, plenty of miles, plenty of conversation, a bit of history, a bit of nature and a lot of laughs.

Thatโ€™s Walk and Talk โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ Tomorrow weโ€™re walking from The Junction Bar & Restaurant.

Come along, join the conversation and help us put the world to rights! ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฌ

๐Ÿ”ฅ BLISTERING BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY WITH HUGH AT HUTHWAITE ๐Ÿ”ฅ

What a way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday. 35 of us headed out with Hugh at Huthwaite for a four-mile circuit that was new to us โ€” and while the route may have been new, one thing was certainโ€ฆ we certainly werenโ€™t setting a blistering pace ๐Ÿ˜‚

In fact, todayโ€™s walk was more of an obstacle course than a race, with plenty of puddles, stiles, bridges and gates to negotiate along the way. Some were easier than others, and a few definitely made us stop and think๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

We were delighted to welcome three new walkers today โ€” Karen, Vivian and Sarah. Thank you for choosing to spend your first walk with Walk and Talk. We really hope you enjoyed yourselves and that weโ€™ll see you again soon. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘ A big thank you to Hugh for leading us, Rob for helping with the back marking, and Clive for lending a hand at the final stile โ€” which certainly wasnโ€™t the kindest one weโ€™ve encountered, and definitely wasnโ€™t the wobbliest ๐Ÿ˜†

๐Ÿ“ธ Thanks also to Tony, Ann and Rob for taking the photographs and, of course, thank you to everyone who came along and made today another great Walk and Talk adventure.

โ˜•๐Ÿฐ And a very special thank you to everyone at The Brierley Cafe. When 22 of us descended on you at around 1 oโ€™clock, you certainly had a busy afternoon on your hands. Thank you for looking after us so well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Tonyโ€™s map makes the route relatively easy to trace and follow, and all I can say is that it was a great walk today โ€” even if the puddles, stiles, bridges and gates tried their best to slow us down.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ TOMORROW โ€” WEโ€™RE WALKING AGAIN!

Tomorrow weโ€™ll be setting off from the road opposite the Whitegates Hotel, down at the far end near the childrenโ€™s playground.

There are no facilities, cafรฉ or pub at the start, just a good walk through a lovely area.

So bring your walking shoes, a drink and your usual Walk and Talk spirit โ€” and letโ€™s see what tomorrow brings ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿ˜Š

We get asked all sorts of questions about Walk and Talk Mansfield and Ashfield, so Iโ€™ve put together a little FAQ poster with some of the questions weโ€™re asked most often. ๐Ÿ‘‡

There is, however, one question that doesnโ€™t seem to get asked very oftenโ€ฆ

Well, the answer is almost๐Ÿ˜‚

We are a walking group, after all, so a bit of rain, wind, cold or sunshine generally isnโ€™t going to stop us. We walk in most weather conditions, unless we feel it would be dangerous to do so โ€” for example, icy conditions or when the Met Office has issued an Amber or Red weather warning.

Our Walk Leaders have the final say when it comes to safety. They can cancel a walk at any time if they feel the conditions are unsafe or they are not comfortable leading it. After all, thereโ€™s no point risking ourselves or others just to say we went for a walk๐Ÿ˜Š

Weโ€™ve walked in rain, wind, sunshine and everything in between, and Iโ€™m sure there have been a few occasions when weโ€™ve wondered why we actually left the house ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’จโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

But remember, you are walking at your own risk, so please use a bit of common sense and come prepared for the conditions.

๐Ÿฅพ Sensible footwear is a must
๐Ÿงฅ Dress for the weather
โ˜€๏ธ Sun protection when needed
๐Ÿ’ง Bring something to drink and keep hydrated
๐ŸŒง๏ธ And if rain is forecastโ€ฆ waterproofs might be a good idea!

Fashion isnโ€™t necessaryโ€ฆ but common sense is ๐Ÿ˜‰

So have a look at our FAQs, and if thereโ€™s something we havenโ€™t answered, just ask.

After all, questions are free โ€” just like our walks ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

These walks are for you, theyโ€™re for us, and in fact, theyโ€™re for everyone. ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you can walk for around 90 minutes at a comfortable, steady pace, then our walks are definitely for you. We walk at a relaxed pace and nobody is left behind. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

And, just for information, the posters and pictures you see are often created by ChatGPT from ideas I have. Iโ€™m not blessed with much artistic flair, so I use AI to help bring those ideas to life๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ ๐“š๐“ฎ๐“ท
