A D V E N T U R E
According to the dictionary definition, an adventure is unusual and exciting, and with a reckless risk of danger!
But… in my humble opinion, adventure doesn’t have to be risky and daring. It doesn’t have to be reckless and dangerous either… But it absolutely has to be exciting! And unusual doesn’t hurt either 😊
When I started my first 100-day barefoot challenge last year, it was because I wanted to have an adventure! But I have children, a husband, dogs, a job, responsibilities… And I couldn’t just take off to the other side of the world to climb a mountain (as much as I wanted to!). So, I did pretty much the only thing available to me at the time – I stepped outside in an attempt to have an adventure from my back door.
But that’s what I do every day when I take the dogs out – I step outside my back door. How could I turn it into a fulfilling adventure??
So I took my shoes off! - It was certainly unusual, and now it’s getting colder it could be described as daring, and I suppose the minefield of conkers and horse chestnuts everywhere could make it potentially hazardous! 😁
But it also turned into so much more than just scratching that adventure itch - it turned into my safe place, my reconnection to nature, and my source of inspiration. But the most important thing was that it was mine ❤️
This will be my third 100 barefoot days, but I think the most important so far as we get stuck into our relocation dream of Wales, and start planning family, house and business moves. For me, this time round, having the grounding and healing benefits of barefoot walking to fall back on during what is bound to be a hugely stressful time, is probably currently more important than my desire for adventure - there’s plenty of time for that later… 😉
Happy barefoot Thursday everyone! ❤️
