All the stuff happening in Nigeria now is exactly why I left. When you choose to love God and his scriptures, certain things becoming revolting to your senses. Being considered pretty merely turns you into a hunted animal. It is almost like having the mark of the beast because you cannot work, you cannot buy or sell without someone trying to place sexual embargoes on your life. You are celibate they say? We want that… we will look after you. How do you manage urges they ask. You step out and everyone from the security guard to the driver, to the chairman and contractor is looking at you like you are a piece of juicy meat and he is a starving animal. It gives one anxiety, you trap yourself in the house, go out wearing a tent with a scarf hoping it preserves what dignity you have … to no avail. If I reported every attempt to harass me? How many businesses I struggled to keep? How many friendships lost? How many paychecks lost? … and why I prefer isolation for peace… many folk do not understand. While my fellow females pay all the money into projecting female predatory images… I applaud the bravery to survive and thrive by selling souls to materialistic endeavours but we are different. I just want my peace, my income, one man and I want a life that glorifies God. The survival instinct goes against living by God’s grace alone. I find this the greatest battle to win in this era.
