There’s something so special about watching young minds create.

Our first Junior Design School session was filled with sketching, making, conversation, laughter and lots of ideas, exactly what a creative space for young people should feel like.

I kept thinking throughout the evening, child me would have absolutely loved this. A space to explore fashion, learn real design skills, meet other young creatives and simply be encouraged to make.

That’s what I hope JDS becomes for these young designers, somewhere their ideas are taken seriously, their creativity is nurtured and they’re encouraged to see just how far their imagination could take them.

Bringing a little London fashion-school energy to Milton Keynes, and hopefully inspiring the next generation of designers right here in MK. ✏️🧵

September is nearly here ✂️

Our Wednesday and Friday Beginners Sewing Courses are now fully booked, with just a few places remaining for Saturday afternoons.

There are also a limited number of places available across our Junior Design School groups, beginning Monday 7th September.

I’ll be switching off from social media for two weeks to celebrate both of my children’s birthdays and enjoy some uninterrupted family time during the summer holidays 🤍

Bookings will remain open through the website while I’m away, and I’ll respond to messages when I return.

Yesterday morning I set myself a challenge.

I woke up with a busy schedule and somehow decided to make my life even harder!!! My goal was to transform this beautiful patterned crepe from Fabric Godmother into a top I could wear to London by the evening.

I gave myself just a couple of hours to create something from scratch before heading off to teach my tote bag workshop, then home to get dressed in my new top before making my way into the West End.

No toile, no overthinking, just fabric, a pair of scissors, a sewing machine, and trusting the process.

Sometimes creativity doesn't need more time... it just needs a start.

Would I wear her again? Absolutely. 🪡🥂

As an introvert myself, I know just how daunting it can feel walking into a room where you don't know anyone.

It's one of the reasons I work so hard to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the atelier.

The majority of students who join my courses come on their own. Those first few minutes can feel a little nerve-racking, but before long, conversations start, confidence grows, and over the next 5–6 weeks it's lovely to watch complete strangers become familiar faces... and often, friends.

So if you've been waiting for someone to come with you, this is your reminder that you don't have to. 🤍

Sometimes the best things begin with taking that first step on your own.
