It’s with heavy hearts that we must announce the closure of Social Socks. Over the past 12 months, the rising costs of running a small business have made it difficult to continue, and with spending down across the board, we’ve made the tough decision to close our virtual doors.

Goodbyes are never easy, especially when we’ve shared so many incredible moments with all of you. In our two years of trading, we’ve been able to accomplish so much together:

🌳 Planted over 1,500 trees
🌊 Removed plastic from our oceans
❤️ Donated over £1,000 to charity

To say thank you and give you one last chance to grab the socks you love, we’re running a closing down sale with 50% off all socks until stocks last. This is your final opportunity to stock up and help plant those last few trees!

We’ve also had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing customers and businesses at events across the country. None of this would have been possible without your support, and for that, we are truly grateful.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Although this is goodbye, the impact we’ve made together will last far beyond today.

Today marks World Water Day 2024, themed Water For Peace.

This year’s theme, reminds us of water’s power not just to sustain life but to foster peace and cooperation. With 2.2 billion people lacking access to safe water.

A staggering 96.5% of Earth’s water is in our oceans, covering 71% of the planet’s surface. Yet, 1 in 4 people globally lack access to a safe drinking water source.

Today, we not only celebrate the essence of water in sustaining life but also its pivotal role in promoting peace and cooperation among communities and nations.

International Day of Forests 2024

As we step into the 9th year of celebrating the lungs of our Earth, let’s look into this year’s theme: “Forests and Innovation: New Solutions for a Better World.”

Did you know? Forests shelter 80% of all known amphibian species! But with 10 million hectares disappearing every year due to deforestation and around 70 million hectares scorched by fires.

Our forests are not just homes for countless species but are also over half the global carbon stock, is hidden in soils and green canopies. Yet, we lose an area equivalent to 14 million football pitches annually to deforestation.

And let’s not forget, forests gift us 75% of the world’s accessible freshwater from their watersheds and wetlands. Imagine a world without that!

Bees, butterflies, and other pollinators are crucial for the growth of over 75% of the world's flowering plants, including many of the crops we rely on for food. Yet, their numbers are declining due to habitat loss, pesticides, and other challenges.

There's hope! Successful conservation efforts have brought species back from the brink, like the Giant Panda and the American Bald Eagle. When we act, we can make a difference.

We're committed to doing our part, with eco-friendly products and initiatives that support wildlife conservation.

This March, I’m personally taking on walking challenges for two causes close to our hearts at Social Socks - WWF-UK and Tommy’s. My mission? To cover at least 100 miles for our planet with WWF-UK and achieve 8,000 steps daily for Tommy’s, highlighting their vital work in supporting families through the heartache of miscarriage, a journey sadly familiar to too many, with approximately 250,000 miscarriages occurring in the UK each year.
