Freshly steamed and ready for the big day ✨👰
We’ve had some truly spectacular gowns through the studio this year, and this beauty is no exception. With a full skirt and dramatic train, proper preparation is key to keeping your dress looking flawless from the moment you step into it.
Here are our top tips for storing and preparing your wedding dress before the big day:
🤍 Hang it properly
Always hang your gown using the internal hanging loops (not the shoulder straps) to prevent stretching and keep the bodice in perfect shape.
🤍 Choose the right spot
Store your dress in a cool, dry room away from direct sunlight, pets, and curious little hands.
🤍 Steam close to the wedding day
Have your gown professionally steamed 1–2 days before the wedding for the freshest finish.
🤍 Remove the cover after steaming
Allow your dress to hang freely, out of the storage bag to avoid creasing before the day.
🤍 Give the train room
If your dress has a long train, make sure it has enough space to drape naturally without being crumpled.
🤍 Dress last
Hair and makeup first, then step into your gown to avoid accidental marks or creases.
🤍 Use a crochet hook for buttons
A small crochet hook is a bridal lifesaver when nerves are running high! Hook the elastic loops and gently pull them over each button - much quicker and easier, especially for gowns with dozens of tiny buttons.
🤍 Keep hands clean
Ask anyone helping you dress to wash their hands before touching the gown.
🤍 Allow extra time
Getting into your dress can take longer than expected, so set aside plenty of time for a calm and stress-free morning.
A little preparation goes a long way in ensuring your dress looks as breathtaking as the moment you first fell in love with it. 💍✨
