Finally this little lady made her way into the world yesterday! Might be taking a wee break from the sewing job to spend time with Ava Wren McBurney but watch this space for some maternity makes over the next couple of weeks! 🤱

Finding myself a little more organised than I used to be now that I am juggling a toddler, sewing/teaching and awaiting the arrival of my second baby!!
I decided that in order to feel as rested as possible it would be a good idea to pack my hospital bag, only to discover the hold-all I used last time is missing. So of course I just had to make one using some lovely fabric my Nanna had, leather scraps and some handles off a bag destined for the charity shop!

Here’s the outcome, am quite pleased to be making and creating instead of buying off the shelf.

Great session today with Kathryn doing a short ‘absolutely beginners’ sewing course. You would not know that this lady had never touched a sewing machine before. Week one saw us learning the basics making tons of samples for all the various functions of a sewing machine and today on week two she made a stocking from scratch follow by starting a simple top from a commercial pattern to be completed next week!! 🙌

I love seeing the passion and fascination of sewing grow in a student and hope it becomes a new love for them!

The classic ‘week 2’ comment I hear from most of the people I teach is “I’ve been looking at the seams in all my clothes this week, I’ve never noticed them before but now my mind is wondering how everything is made!”

Sad to say goodbye to Deborah Ross after 7 weeks of sewing but what a fab student to have! I’m so proud of all she accomplished coming as a beginner to now being confident to embark on sewing on her own!

I know it’s only August and Summer is still in the air but us sewers and crafters (and super eager parents) have to start thinking about the C word 5 months in advance to make sure we get everything done! I’m of course talking about Christmas!!

Because it’s best to be prepared when it comes to home made Christmas notions I’m going to run a Christmas Stocking Workshop mid October giving you all plenty of time to make a full set at home ready for December!!

This workshop will include all materials and a full tutorial on how to make the stocking as well as a free pattern to take home so you can make as many as you wish!

We’ve had a great couple of weeks on the Summer Sews course learning how to use the machines, making samples of seams, hems and boxed corners and practising cutting out and constructing our summer items! It’s been fab getting to know these ladies and I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks! ✂️🧵🙌

I’ve done a few one to one tutoring sessions now and thought it was time I did a class workshop! I’m going to keep it sweet and simple starting off with a ‘Summer Special’ 4 week course for 4 beginners 😊

The aim is to learn some key sewing skills resulting in a different summer item each week to add to your wardrobe (a simple skirt, Chiffon shawl, Beach Tote and a Swing dress)

Hopefully you will leave confident to make simple alterations to these designs and make them again and again in a variety of fabrics!

This will be on Saturday Mornings in August: 10th ,17th, 24th & 30th from 10-11:30am at a special price of £80! There are only four spots so pm me if you to want sign up/find out more!!

It’s so wonderful to see the things you make being worn on such a special occasion! Grace is such a darling little girl and it was a joy to make her this bespoke flower girl dress which she was so excited to wear on Hollie’s beautiful wedding day!!

Finally handed over the large cushion order I’ve been chipping away at the last few weeks between workshops and alterations! Hopefully the three customers will be pleased with what I’ve done with the excess fabric from their curtains! 🤞
