Happy Birthday to Darren!

Will you join me in wishing your friendly fabric guy a very Happy Birthday today?

He works tirelessly throughout the year selecting beautiful fabrics with me, so that you can create beautiful new projects.

Getting up early to go to markets and shows, staying behind to re-board what's sold out ready for the next market.

Together we choose fabrics to create our exclusive fat quarter sets, but it's Darren who cuts, folds and gets them ready. It's Darren who lifts the heavy boxes, loads the van, drives to your market and then helps you find what you're looking for.

Will you show him that everything he does matters?

We get asked to repair or fix lots of things.....

Here are some from this week!

Holes in umpers, ripped pockets, ripped buttons, damaged bike carrier pocket in plastic....

We're not Bob the Builder but if you ask us can we fix it.......yes we can (usually). Xx

The North Yorkshire Yarn Trail starts on Saturday 12th September and runs until Sunday 27th September. 14 places are taking part this year, and Yarn Trail Maps, as shown below will be available to pick up, along with your passport from 7th September, watch out for your local shop saying they have them in stock. The Premise is easy, visit a participating shop, collect a map and passport. Collect stamps on your passport as you visit shops along the trail. No purchase is necessary to collect a stamp. The shops taking part will have various events and competitions within them, please follow the shops individually on social media too for more details. Yarndale takes place on Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th September at Skipton Auction Mart. This is a separate ticketed event, please see their website. Some of the shops on the trail do have stands at Yarndale, and the Yarn Trail will be represented at a stand there too. You can gain an additional Yarndale stamp from the Trail stand at the show. Follow us for more information as we get nearer the launch of The North Yorkshire Yarn Trail 2026.

🧵 DON’T MISS OUT! 🧵

After lots (and lots!) of requests for more workshops, I’ve been busy behind the scenes planning, playing with new ideas and revisiting some tried-and-tested favourites. āœ‚ļø

So… why not take a peek at our latest workshops on the website and book yourself some proper ā€œme timeā€ with a sewing machine? 🄰

Bring a friend, loved one or colleague — learning something new is always more fun together!

Whether you’re a complete beginner, want to brush up your skills or fancy trying something a little different, there’s hopefully something to tempt you. 🧵✨

āš ļø Spaces are limited to just 4 people per workshop, so it really is:

First come. First sew. First learn! šŸ˜‰

🪔 Because there’s always room for one more stitch in your skill set…

What a weird few weeks....

The reactions we have to what we do varies so much.

We get people who are thankful for the work we do, ask us if we can turn something around quickly as they're desperate . We also get those who ask for things that either aren't possible, practical or economical or wont give the expected end results. For those, I offer my experience and knowledge and then unusually say no. It's not personal, it's based on 30+ years of working with fabrics and people's body shapes.

We've had some lovely messages, like John who rang to thank us for sending him some extra fabric to finish his shirt, from Sharon, whose beloved curtains we had relined.

"Hello Heather. I am so happy with the work you did and having my much loved curtains back in place."

To our new delivery driver who brought us a bag of tomatoes that he'd grown as "we were the only people who had been nice to him when he first started!"

So thank you to all of our amazing customers who appreciate who we are and what we do!
