The Home Office has confirmed that the Fi****ms (Variation of Fees) Order 2026 kicks in on 4 June 2026, adding roughly 3% to the core fi****ms licensing fees.

Last year’s uplift was around 133% for some fees and since then, the “service” has… well… started to feel less like “service”.

Here are the new headline figures:

• Firearm certificate grant: £204
• Firearm certificate renewal: £135
• Shotgun certificate grant: £200
• Shotgun certificate renewal: £130
• Coterminous grant: £208
• Coterminous renewal: £160
• Variation (not like for like): £48
• Visitors’ permits: £48 (individual) / £240 (group)
• RFD registration: £480

The important bit:

Applications and payments received by police on or before 3 June are charged at the current rates.

Anything arriving 4 June onwards will be at the new prices. And no - sending it in early won’t magically lock in the old fee. Forces can (and will) bounce it back for the correct amount.
