A recent roman blind I have made with Blind Returns to help hide the track when fixed outside the window recess ❤️

This blind was made from a ready made curtain as the client needed it to match here existing curtains!

Friday Shout Out Time… 🤍

I am super excited about this shout out... 🧵🪡

As some of you may now be aware, each week I love celebrating and supporting friends who have taken the brave step into running their own businesses.

Even something as simple as a like, follow, or share can make a big difference, so let’s keep lifting each other up! ✨

This week, I’m delighted to give a shout out to a super, talented lady and possibly someone who's talent goes under the radar..! ✨My lovely friend Charlotte, at Sewn by Charlotte.

Charlotte's talent is insane! I am obsessed with watching her reels. Turning pre loved dresses into new loved tops, rescuing and recycling clothes that don't need to be thrown away, they just need a little TLC.

I was chatting to a lady just this week who is a regular customer of Charlotte's and we were discussing how seamstresses really do go under the radar. Here are a few of the things she has had repaired by Charlotte : 👇🏼

✨Charlotte's Transformations 🤩

🧵 Skirt Modification :
Charlotte shortened a long skirt by taking it up to the knee, giving it a fresh feel.

🪡Memory Pillows :
She repurposed several of my mum’s favourite clothes into beautiful memory pillows, creating sentimental keepsakes.

🧶Alteration :
Charlotte altered my curtains, prom dress and trousers.

🧥Coat Repair :
She fixed a ripped pocket on a coat, giving it a second life.

It's too easy to just throw away buy new but when you have that favourite garment or coat that you just aren't ready to part with, then Charlotte is the lady to help salvage it.

My late Grandma use to have her own shop many, many moons ago in Scarborough. Her and her sisters started their own little business doing alterations for many local people. Unfortunately the business didnt last too long as they were overly generous and kept doing alterations for free.🤣. They always did have the biggest hearts. 💗

This was a fun project recently.

Create a bespoke skirt for a client ✂️

My client bought this material from a while back for her office blind and there was a nice amount left. Roll on several months and she came up with a great idea to use it up. A made to measure skirt!

I had to dust off my pattern cutting skills and create a pattern from a block i had and then we did 2 fittings with a toile to get the perfect fit for my client.

Then once we were happy it was time to create the final skirt. Tonight my client came to try and pick up the garment and it fit perfectly. Also looked absolutely amazing 🥰 even if I do say so myself. A great idea that came to life ❤️

Thought id share this way of hemming a satin fabric. Saw it online and thought it was quite good.

How do you normally do your tiny hems as I call them? Any tips tricks your would share?

Did you know this? I honestly can't believe the amount of people that don't and walk about with these Pleats and pockets still stitched up!

Shops should really be telling people. Anyway here is what I felt was my duty to the public 😊
