Thank you to One BC !! I had a great three weeks with the lovely team !! I'll be bringing you sushi this week :D
Now i'm at In-Grid for three weeks helping with their shirt shipments to Japan, America and the UK. Lots of pressing and button holing to do !

- Fugitives from the Law of Averages -

I'm nearing the end of a three week placement I've been doing over the summer of 2016. One BC is a unique tailoring company based in Nottingham that do one of bespoke peices and outfits. From beaded neck peices, leather jackets, suits and even wedding dresses. I've been sewing buttons and scoloped lace edges onto a wedding dress, sewing up toiles, cutting patterns, pressing long length saris and sewing up shirts ..so far.. !

I've been home to see my family and boyf after having completed the Innovation project and now I'm back in Nottingham for the next 7 weeks doing a placement at One BC and then on to -Grid ! ^_^

This project is the 2nd major project of my 2nd year at NTU. This was an individual project after having worked intensly in a group for the menswear project previously. It was our chance to decide on a concept of our choice and allow us to explore our own interests.

I based my outfit around the idea of fusing suits and saris, inspired by The Darjeeling Limited, a film by Wes Anderson. I love Wes Andersons film especially the humour and colour pallets. The brothers are re-united to embark on a train journey together across India. What I noticed was that all three men wore grey suits predominantly throughout the film, which contrast greatly with the vibrant scenery of India. It was curious to me to see the experiences they have while travelling having a positive effect on them, bringing them closer together and letting past troubles fade. Slowly their suits rip, and they lose shoes, and given clothes to wrap around themselves by local people.

I found myself a two week placement at Sue Ryder chariry shop in the heart of Nottingham's art quarter. I created a self led project, creating a collection of dresses, skirts and bags, made out of donated fabric. I also created swing tags and did a photoshoot displayed in frames.
