Sew Serendipitous Bag Design

Sew Serendipitous Bag Design I sew unique items using a variety of beautiful fabrics. You will see on this page that I’m presently designing and crafting a number of items in Japanese Silk.
(1)

I have decided to concentrate on this range of bags because of the nature of this wonderful rich material. Kimono silk is produced in bolts which are only 14” wide – as you can imagine this can be restrictive when designing handbags. So, I decided that I would make evening / prom / party bags and pouches, which best suit this material, and also use the silk to line and enhance wool bags. The Japan

ese silk I purchase is usually sold in small length quantities and invariably one bag, lined in the same material, uses all the material available. If I am lucky enough to purchase the silk in meters, unusual as it may be, I will not describe the bag as ‘unique’ but explain that other items will be made out of that material. All of the Japanese silk I purchase is vintage material – this makes it no less expensive to purchase but does mean the designs are no longer in use. Consequently, when I say there is no more of any type of material, that means anywhere. These vintage bolts of materials can be up to 90-years old but the oldest I’ve worked with to date is 60-years old. I do, of course, design and make other types of handbags – sometimes using wool mixed with the Japanese silk and other times using oilcloth. Over the next few months some of these will also be available for sale. Should you see a bag you like but would prefer a different material, just email me at [email protected] and I will get back to you with some ideas and a price. For instance, if you would like a handbag for a wedding, (Mother of the Bride). Perhaps you would like something specific for the Bridesmaids or even the Bride, either to match dresses or to contrast with it. Just email me your phone number and I’m more than happy to discuss this with you. I do hope you enjoy looking at my handbags – please email me if you have any questions.

Wow what beautiful weather we’re having. Yesterday, we met up with sister & brother in law and we all went to the shire horse sanctuary in West Runton. Beautiful place to walk around for a couple of hours and a great opportunity to give some love to some beautiful animals who’ve had a sad life!

Then into Cromer for fish and chips - has to be done…

Today we’ve mooched around Sheringham like old people 🥴 watching the fishing boats and soaking up the sun 🌞 We’re now sitting in a very peaceful garden, in the shade, at the fabulous house we’re staying at, beer in hand and relaxing 😎

Home tomorrow 🥲

Have a wonderful weekend everyone

Beautiful day though. Very relaxing.

Yesterday was all about the sun 🌞 and very rough seas. Wonderful.

I’ll be back annoying you all again by Saturday 😂 enjoy the weather 🧡

Dah dah… all finished - well there’s some painting to do on the legs, but that won’t take too long!

Do let me know what you think, I’d be very interested to hear your opinions - both favourable or otherwise. Pointless to keep making these footstools if no one likes them 😏

It certainly gave me plenty to do in this rainy day ☔️

Thanks for looking and if you would like to own this item please message me 🧡

I’m back in the swing today. This is the top of a new round footstool. Love this bee 🐝 design.

Once complete I shall seal the design to prevent it getting ‘grubby’!

I hope you like it 🧡

Afternoon everyone - a little wet 💦 today but lots of warm sunshine too!

I’m back in the craft room, my machines have been dusted off and now I’m ready to sew sew sew…

I’ve had a lovely few days - firstly with Ava and my youngest (son) and then my eldest (daughter) and her hubby came from N Wales for the weekend. Fabulous. We visited Foxton Locks and then onto Melton Mowbray to explore the beautiful church. And we had a picnic for lunch, despite the weather 🌦️

Next Monday I’m off for my annual trip to Norfolk - so looking forward to visiting the old haunts again - not forgetting the fish & chips in Cromer. 😋

However, I do need to get some items made for my next event in August. Watch this space for pictures.

I’m also trying to set up a new online store but I’ll keep that news until I’ve something to show you.

Have a wonderful week and speak soon 🧡

I’m just letting Ava pop by to say hi 👋… well she would if she could stay awake after having her double egg cheesy omelette 🍳 lunch. She just had to get her head down for a little nap 💤 before going to play on the field with her ball… 🥎 in between the rain ☔️!

Hello, I’m back… I’ve had to shut myself away, staying off social media, to be able to complete my commissions. Thank you everyone who ordered and I hope all deliveries are now complete!

So yesterday myself and Mr Bee met up with the eldest granddaughter and her boys (great grandsons) at Whipsnade Zoo - not been there since my own children were little and that’s a long time ago 🥴 The weather was perfect as were the great grandchildren. Picnic was provided by Teya so all we had to do was turn up and enjoy ourselves. Not too difficult!

Tomorrow I return to sewing, to build up stock for my next show. In the meantime have a lovely weekend and here are a few pictures from yesterday. 💙💙
