🐴 THE WORKING WEEK IS OVER…

And now the important part begins.

HORSE WEEKEND. 🤍

No work emails.

No meetings.

No watching the clock wondering how quickly you can get to the yard.

Just…

🐴 More riding

🤍 More yard time

☕ A little more breathing space

🌿 More countryside

And plenty more of what we actually love.

Whether your weekend involves a long hack, schooling, competing, endless yard jobs or simply spending some uninterrupted time with your horse…

Enjoy it.

Because sometimes the best way to recover from the working week is to swap the office for the yard, the laptop for the reins and the weekday rush for the sound of hoofbeats.

🐴 THE YARD SOUNDS DIFFERENT AT NIGHT.

When the jobs are finished and everything finally becomes still…

The rain tapping on the roof.

The quiet rustle of hay.

A bucket being nudged somewhere in the darkness.

The occasional snort.

Hooves shifting softly in the straw.

And horses completely content with the fact that absolutely nothing interesting is happening. 🤍

There’s something about those last few minutes at the yard.

No rushing.

No lists.

No need to achieve anything.

Just one final look around before switching off the lights and heading home.

Sometimes quiet really is the best part of the day.

🐴 HORSE PEOPLE… FINISH THIS SENTENCE:

“One thing I wish someone had told me when I first started with horses…”

We all started somewhere. 🤍

And no matter how many years you’ve spent around horses, there are probably things you know now that you wish somebody had told you right at the beginning.

Maybe it’s about riding.

Confidence.

Competing.

Money. 💷😂

Getting through winter.

Making mistakes.

Or learning that sometimes the most important thing is simply to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and enjoy your own journey.

🐴 THE VIEW BETWEEN THE EARS 🍂

There are some views you simply can’t appreciate through a windscreen.

No particular destination needed.

No rushing.

Just you, your horse and two ears pointing towards somewhere worth going. 🤍

Autumn makes those moments even better.

Crunching leaves beneath the hooves.

Cooler air.

Quiet bridleways.

And those beautiful views that somehow look completely different from the saddle.

So we thought we’d start something new…

Honestly. We weren’t. 😂

It’s October.

We’re still enjoying autumn.

We’ve only just accepted that mud season has arrived.

And then something happened…

Christmas gift enquiries started coming in. 🎁👀

So apparently, horse people are already thinking ahead!

Which means…

There’s something particularly satisfying about that moment when everything at the yard is finally finished.

The horse is settled.

The jobs can wait until tomorrow.

The muddy boots are off.

And you can finally sit down knowing you’ve made time today for what matters. 🤍

Whatever your Saturday looked like — riding, mucking out, grooming, competing, hacking or simply spending some quiet time with your horse — now it’s time to switch off.

Put your feet up.

Something warm to drink.

And enjoy the rest of your evening.

☕ Coffee intake: HEAVY
💷 Bank balance: FALLING
🧹 Yard jobs: WIDESPREAD
🌾 Hay levels: EVERYWHERE
👢 Mud levels: SEVERE

SUNDAY:

🐴 Horse time: CONTINUING
🧺 Washing pile: BUILDING
🚗 Car cleanliness: POOR
🔋 Energy reserves: LOW
🤍 Happiness levels: VERY HIGH

And the longer-range outlook?

HORSEY…

With a strong chance of getting absolutely nothing else done. 😂

🌧️🐴 AND SO IT BEGINS…

MUD SEASON.

It feels like approximately five minutes ago that horse ownership looked like:

Quick brush. ✓
Tack up. ✓
Ride. ✓

And now?

Find horse.

Question life choices.

Locate horse somewhere underneath the mud.

Start brushing.

Keep brushing.

Still brushing…

Wonder whether buying a brown horse would have helped.

Eventually accept defeat and tack up a horse that is technically cleaner than when you started. 😂

Estimated grooming time:

45 minutes.

Estimated time before they roll again:

11 seconds.

Welcome back to cold, damp, muddy British horse life. 🌧️

And the ridiculous thing?

Even with the mud, wet boots, dark evenings and endless grooming…

We still wouldn’t rather be anywhere else. 🤍🐴
