✨ Time to say goodbye ✨

Hi lovely followers 💙 Thanks so much for following my painty journey so far. I’ve loved sharing my colourful creations with you all and hearing your feedback.

However, I’ve fallen out of love with “Colourful Soul”. I’ve struggled with the pressure that the name puts on my work, especially on the days when I don’t feel very colourful. It’s also always felt a bit like the name isn’t fully mine.

I’d already moved my art over to Anya’s Studio and I’m loving experimenting and just being me over there so it’s time to move it all. I worried that by painting on so many different things I lacked a style and my work seemed a bit random. But hey, that’s me! Rather unfocussed and keen to try everything!

So if you’d like to keep up with all my arty experiments, head over to Anya’s Studio and give me a little follow. There’ll be hand painted clothing, pet portraits, painted cakes, abstract art and soooo much more (depending on where the mood takes me). It may be a bit random and lacking a lovely theme but it will all be 100% me!

This is for all the incredible mummies out there who constantly feel like they’re ‘winging it’.
❤️To the mums who have read every parenting manual but still don’t have a freaking clue.
🧡To the mums who are bone tired but still get up every day to do school runs and playgroups.
💛 To the mums who yell “DON’T SHOUT” at their little darlings before realising the irony of what they just shouted.
💚 To the mums who feel guilty for working/not working/bottle feeding/co-sleeping/not co-sleeping/yelling/enjoying a night away, in fact all the bloody things we end up feeling guilty about.
💙 To the mums who’s brains have turned to mush and have no clue what day it is, let alone who they were before they had kids.
💜To the mums feeding their child beans on toast for the fifth day in a row because it’s all they’ll eat and you’re sick of making lovely meals for them to just get thrown away.
🖤To the mums who try their hardest yet still feel like they’re getting it all wrong.
💕I hear you, I see you, I am you. You’re rocking it the best you can and, at the end of the day, as long as you wrap your little’un in your rainbow wings of LOVE they’re getting what they need ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Also, this is my first attempt at drawing digitally (on the tablet) so slightly nervous about sharing it. It’s just a weird feeling when you’re used to the feel and textures of paintbrush and paint and when you’re drawing on the tablet but looking at the laptop screen!

These beyond-fabulous boots (hand painted by me!) are by Solovair-Official-UK and are hand made from start to finish just down the road in Northamptonshire. They’re fab quality and should last a lifetime. They were originally cherry red but I’ve made them a lot more sparkly and colourful to match my ridiculous wardrobe!

2018 has been an odd one and has taught me a lot of things. To see in 2019 I thought I’d have a little reflect over some of the things I’ve learned this year... saddle up, it’s a long one!...

1. The biggest thing I’ve learnt is that even the most rainbowtastic of us sometimes feel blue. And that’s ok. As long as we find a way to get back to the rainbow.
2. Anxiety is a bitch
3. Turning 30 was fun. Can I do it again next year?
4. Social media, when used in the right way, can open up doors to fabulous people and new friendships. Not only have I made some brilliant pals who I hope I get to meet in real life one day but I’ve also managed to connect with some fabulous people who have become my school run buddies, and sometimes a shoulder to cry on, too.
5. Collaboration over competition always. I’ve been super lucky to connect with some amazing people via this platform who have been so generous with their knowledge. Thank you to for taking the time to share your wealth of experience and to for also sharing lots of helpful tips and being so lovely to have coffee with too!
6. Turns out I can paint pet portraits. And cakes!! It’s been a year of experimenting and discovering what I love to do.
7. My two small boys are a blinking handful and have me tearing my hair out most of the time but, from watching the youngest rugby tackle kids twice his size to seeing the oldest in his first nativity and speak his lines with such confidence, I’ve been one proud mama.
8. I’ve learnt loads about running a small business thanks to fab courses by and by the collective. I still have s**t loads to learn!
9. I can pull off a fringe! Phew!
10. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I’ve really missed seeing my parents on a regular basis this year. It’s also been tough having the hubby away mon-fri since October and even more in the lead up to Christmas. It’s almost broken me in places but it’s made Christmas together even more special.
11. Ultimately LOVE is all you need. So I wish you all sooooo much love in 2019 so that, even in the crappy times, you can get through.

Christmas starts now! Kids finished school and nursery and the husband surprised us by coming home a day early! Yay!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who’s supported me in 2018 and I plan to bring ALL THE COLOUR and ALL THE SPARKLE in 2019 so watch this space.

But for now I am signing off and spending some very overdue and very much needed family time. Bring on the food, the wine, the snuggles, the board games, the greater family and the North (both east and west).

Here are the final images from the project I worked on with and . Through these powerful images Tree aimed to raise awareness for hidden disability through making visible the things she suffers with every day due to her cerebral palsy. The different colours highlight the levels of pain she feels and the words over the top describe the pain, but also how she has overcome these difficulties to create her successful business.
