After recovering a much-loved antique lampshade frame, I was delighted to receive this message from the customer, today. Even better, she would like me to help with another unusual lamp that she’s struggled to find a suitable shade for over the last 20 years….

🚤✨ It's always wonderful to see a project in its new home! ✨🚤

A few days ago I shared the making process behind seven pairs of bespoke thermal blackout curtains I created for a friend's canal boat using traditional Laura Ashley heritage techniques.

Delighted to share a couple of photos of them hanging up. Seeing the finished curtains in place and hearing how pleased my friend is with them makes all the careful measuring, cutting, hand-finishing and sewing worthwhile. 💕

This project isn't quite finished yet as I'm currently making a matching rear curtain for the sleeping area, followed by four bespoke dinette cushions complete with piping and zips to bring the whole interior together.

I can't wait to share the next stage with you!

🧵 Returning to the traditional Laura Ashley heritage techniques I was trained in 30 years ago by creating seven pairs of bespoke thermal blackout curtains for a friends canal boat. Every hem on the pattered fabric & corner finished by hand & completed with the same attention to detail that first inspired my love of soft furnishings 💕

Amid the madness of preparing my new workshop this week 😅 I still managed to find time to restore this antique frame into a beautiful lampshade for a customer, it was a challenge & the photographs don’t do this any justice but it did turn out beautifully👌🏻

After a lot of unexpected changes recently, I’ve decided it’s finally time to stop treating my creativity as “just a hobby” & turn it into something much bigger 💕

Many of you will remember this space when I had my beauty salon downstairs… but I’ve always had a vision for this beautiful old upstairs space as a workshop and knew one day it would become something more.

So now it’s finally time to bring that dream to life ✨

Over the next few weeks I’ll be transforming the upstairs into the new home of Bobbin Box Creations, after I worked & trained at Laura Ashley 30 years ago sewing has always been my hobby & eventually set this up in 2021. This beautiful space will now be a handmade textile & interiors workshop filled with fabrics, sewing machines, embroidery, upholstery, soft furnishings, keepsakes, natural skincare and all the beautiful creative chaos that comes with it 🧵🪡

I’m also very excited to be starting my first canal boat interiors project this week for my lovely friends & creating bespoke soft furnishings for their beautiful boat — something completely new for me & an opportunity I never expected to stumble into ⚓✨

Alongside this, I will be creating Viking & Fantasy style pieces including custom Fae costumes, wedding pieces & event creations ⚔️🧚
Eventually, the downstairs space will evolve into a cosy artisan boutique filled with handmade treasures, home décor, textiles, skincare & carefully curated creations — somewhere people can step inside and truly experience the heart of Bobbin Box Creations 🤍

I honestly believe after one chapter closes in life another, much more exciting one, is finally beginning.

This little workshop is only 60 seconds from my home, full of history, character & potential… & for the first time in a long time, I feel genuinely excited about the future again.

I can’t wait to share the transformation with you all ✨
